the hisense seems technically superior in every way to this tv. It just doesn't come with the Sony brand name. comparison here https://www.rtings.com/tv/tools/c...3102/39082
I do notice they both do seem to have highly reflective screens so a viewing with minimal lightning is going to be important.

Pretty blunt assessment from Rtings, "The Sony X77L is a disappointing TV with poor picture quality, and you shouldn't buy it"

IMHO, an ADS panel without local dimming is a recipe for disaster.

I have a similar model (75") with the same panel and processor. I like the picture quality and build quality. The only thing I dislike is its OS. I used Roku before, and this is my first Google TV, and I HATE it. It's awful, very unintuitive, and so slow. The system has changed a lot in recent years, so when I search for a solution online, the settings menus aren't the same anymore. I really, really hate Google TV. Unless you have experience with Google TV or another source of input (like Apple TV), I would recommend avoiding a TV with Google OS.

Todays Google TV is pretty good, one of the better TV OSs. MUCH better than Apple TV, Roku, Fire TV. Its just as fast as WebOS on my LG C1. But has ALOT more apps and customization if thats your thing.

The sony is a low end tv with bad contrast and brightness but has the sony processing. The QD7 is a upper low end tv with a bad contrast and a bit more brightness and better colors.
