It is often better to layer two thinner jackets than one thick one. This can be an inner later with a light puffer jacket on the outside. When you're indoors or inside a car, you can take the outer later off. If you just do one thick layer, you would be too hot indoors and then potentially too cold after you take the jacket off, if the indoor temperature is kept in the 60s.

the bottom layer if u put 2 other items on top of this and in the spring or fall at night. If not then nothing I was born in NY and lived there for 23 years
