This one is better for a little more. AMD 7900x and RTX 4080 SUPER https://www.costco.com/msi-aegis-...08016.html

It's…fine. It's from Costco which is a plus for returns, but it's a 4080 non-super. The one with the super was this price from Lenovo directly last week. Similar specs from dell and ones with amd ryzen 7800x3d from cyberpower were cheaper on bf especially if you jumped through cash back hoops. There is no chip upgrade for this btw without replacing the motherboard.

You should not be putting down that much on it around 1000-1300 is a good budget to not spoil him too much

Doesn't seem like an especially good deal for a CPU with acknowledged, proven degradation failures and an overpriced/disappointing GPU from a Chinese company

Reposting from the other thread with the same deal direct from Lenovo-

Even with potential tariffs looming, this mainly looks like a good deal for someone who will get in a lot of gaming this Winter. Making good use of a gaming system has value and this rig is pretty awesome for that in the short-term.

For anyone who won't be pounding out some gaming time during these winter months, by next Spring looking back at this price for Lenovo's subpar proprietary crap is gonna seem like a bad deal. 9800x3d will be out in volume and back to retail pricing (and probably lower as is the AMD trend, although tariffs might offset some of that). AMD's non-x3d chips are also better in all aspects since this Intel i9 has no onboard gpu for encoding benefits, and a terrible history of failures.

Lenovo is known for cheap, but this isn't low enough and their desktops basically suck with too many negatives unless sold at bargain basement pricing (usually on their refurbs). At least Lenovo laptops are worth the money.

Just purchase it from costco and return it before the 90 day return period and upgrade him to a 5080 build when it's released in January. He should be good for 4-8 years with that.
Don't be that guy.

It's fine but for this price get the 4080 Super graphics card. It's not THAT much faster, maybe 5-10%, but for this amount of money you can certainly get the 4080 Super version.

I would also suggest an AMD processor instead of Intel, this 14th generation Intel has had some big issues.
Intel chip issues have been addressed. Enough with this nonsense.

You mean all those issues that got resolved with a microcode update and are completely transparent to the end user?

Let's not forget that the Ryzen 7 was having very similar problems almost around the same time, yet somehow there's no caution with picking up those systems. Why? Because AMD handled it and life goes on. Intel have done the same.

Rather than fear monger, try to remind yourself that the system is under manufacturer warranty, which is one of the reasons to buy a prebuilt to begin with.

The system could arrive on fire and it's not your problem.
Exactly. Issues have been taken care. These trolls who keep spinning the same ol nonsense is getting tiring. Issues have been fixed with the Intel chips. Quit spreading lies.

There is no guarantee that fixed anything until years later and see the results

Enough with your nonsense...

LOL - There's currently nothing in Intel's lineup that beats the 14900 series... a worthy upgrade will take years...

Yes. What's the problem? You're buying an unlocked CPU without knowing how to do that? Bios>adjust settings>set and forget...

I don't trust them considering they lied about there being an issue in the first place for a year, why would I trust them at their word when they say they fixed it?. Besides the fact that AMD offers better competing products anyway.

cpubenchmark shows 4080 super being slower than 4080 and online gamers get 1fps better with super
I'd love to see your source showing the super is 5-10% better.

Would this deal be better than maxing out everything for an ultra-high end gaming machine like this one? (I know its dependant on how I use. I bought a highest specs PC 8+ years ago and am looking to do the same now).

https://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Ve...TRKG&psc=1

Trying to figure out if I go with an option like that Corsair pre-built that has gotten a lot of good reviews, or take something like this deal. Any help/thoughts?

Is this a good deal. I'm looking at getting my son his first gaming PC. From 1800-2200 ish. Amd chip for easy upgrade but I don't mind intel
Depends on what games he wants to run. I spent $500 for an entry level gaming PC for my kids since the games they run don't require high level graphics.

Outside of overall cost, what would be the better deal? This deal with the specs or a more high-end PC at the $3,800 cost here?
