The Switch Anthology edition with all DLC is $19.xx, but buying the base game and then the Anthology upgrade actually works out to be a buck or so cheaper. So you could try the base game out for $3 and then decide if you want the additional content.

I enjoy this game on PC and I'm thinking about getting it on my kids switch for long trips flights, but has anyone played on and can tell me what the gameplay is like

Once you get used to the controls from PC to switch, its fine. Just keep in mind that Civ7 is coming up soon

How's the performance? That's always my big worry with a Switch port.

They did their absolute best here, for $3 it's a cinch to buy.
It begins to chug at round 100, but honestly it's a relaxed game and I don't really mind.

Would it be worth it to pay $7 more for the Platinum edition which has the expansion packs?

Just realized I have the base game on PC free from Epic but never played it so probably don't need another copy. Still tempting to have on the Switch!

I don't know much about the Switch version but the PC version has undergone a ton of changes / additions with the DLCs. They did a really nice job with them adding a lot of interesting twists to the game that makes them absolutely worth it. I recommend getting the Civ 6 Anthology which has EVERYTHING. You can pick up a steam key for that for $15~20 these days (eneba, greenman gaming, etc) and will give you countless hours of game play.

Go for the platinum edition. This game is much different with DLCs

As anyone knows, Civilization is a great way to kill time, like what you'd use Switch for when traveling or waiting for things....$3 is a great deal for that.

Stick to small maps and 4 civs and you are good for the first 200-300 turns before it starts to slow between turns.

It will slow down but if you want to play on your couch or on the go, it's not a deal breaker.

I like to use archipelago maps to prevent the occurrence of 1 civ getting a continent to themselves and pretty much guaranteeing a win.

Crazy load times, especially for big maps. For me it's not much of an issue tbh because once it loads up the rest is fine.

At this price it's absolutely a no brainer

Curious about this too. Have both the phone and the PC version and the PC gameplay is much better. Not sure how it is on a switch

It's borderline unplayable after about 50 or so turns but for 3 dollars I'd probably suck it up

I have this game on PC, Steam Deck, iPad and Switch and the Switch version is the worst playing by a huge margin.
