Def not worth $40 but I snagged one last week at $13.50 and it's impressively bright and the light is nice on the eyes (it's diffused/pointed down so you can't see the diodes unless the lantern is above eye level).
I need a little light/lantern for 360 degree viewing while operating a kayak at night...
How would this light hold up considering it's only rated for IPX4?
edit: found out from the official site that it's micro USB. wish it was USB c.
It's USB-C. This was on SD last week before it sold out. I'll dig up the link- there's a discussion on it being USB-C and the listing being vague. But I can also confirm the port because mine arrived already.

IPX4 is splash rated so it should be fine so long as you don't roll the Kayak or accidently dump it overboard. That said, in shallow water it would probably be fine if you immediately retrieved it but it's not rated for submerging so no guarantees I guess.

It charges via USB-C. That's how I charged the one I bought anyway (same charger I use for my phone).
