This company is all over the place with inconsistency!

Went to do the deal for $10/$17 mentioned here, opened app and creates an account. In-App deal currently is less for Pro ($13 vs $17)
https://ibb.co/6wrPnZb

At same time, if you search to open website they are still promoting the Black Friday deal at $20.

Three different prices, all at same time.

In short, try creating a new account in the app for the most savings currently!
FYI on auto renewal (from website)
Our subscriptions are auto-renewable. To deactivate the automatic renewal you can cancel your subscription up to 24 hours before the end of the current billing period. The cancellation will be effective at the end of your current subscription cycle.
So... cancel immediately after signing up or anytime up to 2 days before subscription ends👍 you still have access after cancellation until year is up!
In case anyone is wondering about canceling the subscription immediately after signing up so that it doesn't auto-renew. I looked it up on their FAQ so you don't have to:

About Blinkist Auto-Renewals for Subscriptions

Does the subscription auto-renew?

Our subscriptions are auto-renewed after each billing period (yearly, monthly or quarterly, depending on the subscription you've chosen).

Please note, that if you cancel your subscription it will turn off the auto-renew and end with the current subscription cycle, not immediately.

-

Basically, it looks like you can cancel right away and still use it. To be extra safe, I'm gonna sign up with PayPal and cancel it from both PayPal's side and Blinkist. Seems like it'll be useful, but I wouldn't be able to stomach paying over $100 a year for this…

UPDATE:

I just did this and it worked. I canceled it right away from the PayPal auto payments side and still had access. I then canceled on Blinkist website and now it says my account is active with a subscription until Dec 4, 2025. It worked. Interestingly, when I attempted to cancel I got an immediate offer for 50% off next year's subscription. I declined the retention offer.

Also, apparently all subscribers get a free invite to bring a friend/family member and share the subscription. So this definitely sweetens the deal since I can share it with my spouse!

Will evaluate one year of service before making any claims that it is worth it!

Seems great if you want to pretend you've read a lot of books.https://youtu.be/LgIF2psUVn4?t=530
I listen to audiobooks (mostly) but rarely finish as most are 8+ hrs and being part of the neurodiverse population, reading takes longer to absorb usually so never finish that either.
I'm not looking to impress anyone appearing to read lots of books...I constantly seek to improve myself, so learning the main principles vs weeding thru an entire book for those within the hours of fillers (along with Pro version extras) are well worth the $13 for a year I paid through Google Pay after a Pop up for $13 Pro appeared a few minutes after answering the initial survey questions but didn't pull the trigger when the promotional price wasn't displayed... waiting saved an extra $4.50👍

annoying because their black friday deal or pre deal was 27 bucks i think. I got it and could have had the pro for 10 bucks less
Black Friday starting to have a theme. Sucker in the masses then give the great deals for those who held out.

Not always, it seems to be a trick that's been rather recent .. I got burned on the trade in for the Samsung 7 watch when their damn website just hung there after hitting submit Saturday then tried again Sunday but they dropped $50 for my 6 trade in so I canceled it...and yes, I contacted support & yes, I got a code that turned out to be for just another $19 off... So nope, not biting to pay $30 more

Of course not always, but I saw 3 companies do this.

Citi with 15% on BF & 20% on CM for Apple gift cards
Skyzone with their yearly BF special and CM $20 even less.

Beware of their yearly renewal dates, was charged without any notice and yet to hear back from Blinksit support team to cancel.
Same issue with me too, so annoying.

Are there free sites that do the same or just repeat blinkist?

Most biz and self help types of books have about 2 pages worth of content for every 100 printed pages anyway. They just repeat the same idea with minor variations and long winded made up examples.

I've been using this service for a couple of years now, and it's been a bit of a mixed bag. Some of the blinks feel like clickbait—like the one on Radical Candor, which kept mentioning the book's chapters but never really dug into the details. That being said, I've found some blinks to be pretty useful.

I canceled my subscription back in early October, but I was able to renew it for $13 on the app this week when they offered a 90% discount. Not sure if it's targeted, but you might want to check the app for a lower price.

When you say they offered the 90% discount in the app, were you able to pay that price inside the App Store? (I'm assuming an iPhone, but please correct me if I'm wrong. Just curious since that would be really interesting to me)

I had the app installed previously and there were free blinks I would listen to even after unsubscribing. It popped up on the app and i paid through the google play store.
