This game rules. The soundtrack is great and I absolutely LOVED the humor. It's a 2d platformer throwback that eventually becomes a Metroidvania (not really a spoiler) and the game is a little less successful in the 2nd half (for me) but I still enjoyed it and finished it. The challenge rooms are really fun. I did use a walkthru twice just because the fast travel leaves a bit to be desired and I didn't wanna walk back and forth forever. That said, easily worth $4 if you love 2d platformers and like humor in your games. This is a 90/95% for me.

Cool game. Enjoyed it a lot up until... The Robo Dragon in the sewer/water boss. Absolutely overly difficult for no reason boss fight. Uninstalled.

If you care about this kinda thing, it's worth noting it's set in the same universe as the studio's more recent game, Sea of Stars. They're standalone stories but have references to made to one another and some shared locations (so, if you've played Sea of Stars, you might get some additional appreciation out of this game).

Incredible game, fantastic dev team (Sabotage), amazing deal. Some of the tightest controls in a game, the cloud stepping mechanic is one of my favorites ever. Other games totally overshadowed The Messenger in 2018. I think it should have won indie GOTY over Celeste in retrospect.

A love letter to all the old school Ninja Gaiden fans. It was a fun game.
