I don't see why anyone would buy a refurbished laptop unless it has a removable battery or the seller has put in a fresh battery...does anyone know if either is the case for this item? Otherwise it has an unknown and possibly short lifetime

some listings mention battery..

I recently bought 2 used chromebooks, I did not pay attention to the battery at all

These are probably Costco returns, so they should be fairly newish as Costco won't take any computers back if passed 3 months.

I bought this same Chromebook from them back in September for $229. Nothing wrong with it, ran the battery health test when I got it and it was 98% if I recall.

manufacturer refurbs have some amount of maximum amount of batter ycycles / wear etc.

Hard to stomach when I could have bought one brand new (with a sleeve) for $150 from the Costco deal (combined with the $50 discount for being a current Chromebook owner).
