I've got one. It's nice and fast. Doesn't get too hot either. It is somewhat behind top end drives like sn850x and 990pro, but those cost $120.
It does slow down once cache fills up, but in gaming that never happens. (And all drives nowadays have cache that fills up, it just depends on how fast).
One quirk: mp44l have identical serial numbers so Linux would not recognize two of them connected to the same pc. There's a patch to make it work but it's a pain in the butt.
But otherwise work great.
It's SLC cache. What the drive is doing is writing only 1 bit per cell in the cache portion of the drive. It can do this much faster than writing the 3 bits per cell that TLC is capable of handling.
The downside is that it has to later go back, read that data, and rewrite it at 3 bits per cell to save space. That means that goes through the SLC cache gets written twice. This will decrease the drive's life.
Also, since they're using an SLC cache instead of a DRAM cache, once you fill the SLC cache, write speeds can slow down markedly.
If you're using the drive for a lot of stuff that only gets written once, then the reduction in drive life won't be much of an issue, although you may run into the situation where writes get slow.
Looks like maybe the best deal right now for a relatively modern TLC drive on-line. Could wait around and see if the generally superior MSI M482 comes back in stock at MSI for $90. BTW, MSI's US location is neighbors to Newegg's US headquarters.
Also, the 1TB M450 is still $45 on Newegg, though this is a better drive.

Anyone have this SSD? Is it reliable and actually matches the speeds it says? Might buy this for a new pc build

they say SLC though, not TLC??
It's a reference to the pSLC cache, which basically all modern drives have. There are no true SLC (or even MLC) SSDs still on the consumer market. The best you can get is TLC.
