I use my iPad for everything you're using your phone for. I also watch a lot of my streaming content on mine. I don't have a tv in my bedroom by choice so if I want to watch something away from the living room it's on my ipad. I also don't have a kindle because…I have an ipad.
It's my daily driver. The 2nd most used device in my house

My position is that Apple gaslights the population talking about green initiatives and carbon neutrality and specifically overcharges for components and forcefully inhibits the user from upgrading it themselves.
To support my statements on this, Apple and others are under scrutinity in the EU where for instance they forced them to go to USB-C and soon modular components because they inherently know that these devices lifespan can and should outlive the repairability of single components or a single component rendering the entire appliance e-waste before its time.
I do remember a time where the battery, RAM, storage actually was user replaceable and has specific screws/plates to make that happen in minutes. Have we somehow devolved back into the stone ages? No corporate greed and charging $200 for a $4 component looks better to the investor.
