Per reviews this thing is a POS. And supposedly they updated the thing to fix the problem and yet it's still a POS. Do not recommend buying unless you plan to throw away after it's first use.

Love this thing, have had it for a few years with zero issues. I don't leave it on for long periods of time, which I think is what kills it. Prepare your wires, turn it on and use it, then shut it down. Works great as long as you're not using it on larger wires.

I bought one many years back but I don't use it in a professional fashion. Can't say that I've used it a ton but the times I've have, it's been great. It's only gets pulled out for place where it's a PIA to use a plugged in unit. Example, working on the car OR just recently wiring on a trailer.

Good soldering iron no problems for the year I've had it 4 more years left on the warranty. When I bring this iron out my wires are prepped ready to solder.

Yeh I was debating on trying this over my rapid heating 900w iron but doesnt seem like its worth it just for the portability.

I've seen a fair amount of hate for this item, but my experience so far has been great. Keep in mind that my use case is pretty simple. I use it for quick repairs of connections that came loose within equipment, tools, and other "less than elegant" solder joints. The ability to turn it on, have the right amount of heat in a short period of time, and an LED light to give you some indication of cooldown time has been perfect. I can grab this iron and have a connection fixed faster than I can setup one of my other irons. If you spend lots of time soldering chips or ribbon cables to boards, then your experience could be vastly different.

I would agree... don't think this is a replacement for a normal soldering iron so someone using it for that would be disappointed for sure. It shines, like other portable irons do, with area away from near by power OR areas where not having cords works better.

I've used it for a few projects and love it. I read lots of complaints too but mine has been flawless.

I think they fixed the temp fuse issues that made these disposable, but it's still mediocre as an iron based on recent reviews. I really want one but I really think the smart move is to get a cordless tool battery to USB-C or barrel jack and use the pinecil I already own. Or use the butane one I own too but those aren't very precise on temps etc.

Not sure what I'm missing here - 84% 5 star rating on Amazon with another 9% 4 stars.(Bare tool)

76% 5 star rating on Home Depot with another roughly 9% 4 stars. (Full Kit)

Appears to have 5 year warranty also. Think I'm pulling the trigger at this price plus military discount - extra battery will go with another kit I purchased BF.

I do small repairs and I have had zero issues with it. If I had a complaint I'd say the tip gets loose when it gets hot, just gotta use a pliers to get it tight and its fine.

There are much better portable soldering irons for much less. Don't waste your money.
