I pulled the trigger before BF. I really wanted the enduro 3, but couldn't justify the extra $$$. It will be a while before those get discounted. I upgraded from a 5x I got 5 yrs ago. Very pleased so far. A lot more data and insights gathered.

I bought it before BF as well, but have held off opening it in case it goes lower before Christmas. I'm upgrading from a 5x Plus I got 6 years ago when I was running more often. Even though I'm not using the sports functions as much, my main reason for sticking with the Fenix is the MIP screen. I detest having something glowing on my wrist at all times, but I want to have the screen always on (the auto turn on feature bugs me more). I know the Fenix 8 still has the MIP display as an option, but I worry that it'll be the last model they make with those since everyone loves AMOLED.

I picked one up last round and opened it after BF/CM ended. It's been a good upgrade from my 6 and the 51mm has been great and still comfortable.

I too like MIP screens at least for now and at this price could not justify getting an 8 MIP display at 2x the cost.

Why did you want Endura 3? I'm conflicted between Fenix 8 solar, Fenix 7 pro ss, and Enduro 3. Seems like a couple of hundred dollars difference between the three .. will hate to compromise if one is significantly better than the others ...

I upgraded from the Enduro 2 because i wanted the 5th gen heart rate sensor. I almost went with the Enduro 3 for the battery life and upgraded solar panel but the price and inferior build quality turned me off. I dont want a plastic case vs magnesium.

Longest Garmin support, newer display with better readability and solar performance, also newer UI, and longer total battery. However, as below pointed out, it is a resin backed case. It's a matter of trade-offs when saving money. I am eyeballing some long endurance races and new my 5x wouldn't capture the whole thing on 1 charge. It's not so much the fact I don't need to charge every other weekend, as it is to be able to keep going without worrying I'm not tracking. Because if you don't log it, it never happened.

I have this watch and a Forerunner 955. I have switched to the 7X as my daily wear. It can't be understated how useful the built in flashlight is for everyday use. I use it at least 12 times a day. Everything from a light in the middle of the night to get up and use the bathroom or letting the dog out to helping find a dropped pen.

I just bought one from scuba.com last week, I think the deal is still on slickdeals somewhere:

Delivered fine, no issues.

That is a year older model. Doesn't have the flashlight(in the regular 7) also has the older elevate v4 heart rate and doesn't have multipoint gps.

The Fenix 7 pro is the smaller model of this deal that has the flashlight, new heart rate and multipoint gps. Wish they would drop that and the 7s pro to $550 or below.
