Not a good deal here. The base MacBook Pro M4 is better than this MacBook Pro M3 Pro. I would not recommend at this price. Maybe $1399 but I still would not buy.

Sorry but the base M4 MacBook Pro smokes this M3 Pro at a cheaper price point.

Thats not necessarily the case, depends on what you use case is. The M4 is better then the M3 Pro in single core usage, but the M3 Pro is a little better in multi core usage and much much better GPU wise. The M4 has a better display but the M3 Pro has 2GB more RAM. If you were comparing M4 Pro to M3 Pro it would be a different story, however.

Not true.

Watch this video showing the comparison.

There's a lot more difference that makes the base M4 a better choice over the M3Pro unless you are paying a significant price savings.

Better screen, better battery life, better webcam, longer OS support, better both single and multi CPU performance.
Well this is awkward. Guess we need a third opinion. Anyone willing to chime in here?

Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank 1gokart

The only reason to buy the M3 Pro is the graphics but if you need the graphics then you are better spending the extra $300 and get the M4 Pro for $1799.

Don't get me wrong. The M3 Pro is a great computer but not at this price point.

It is not a slick deal at $1500

The only advantage of M4 is CPU single-core performance. Multi-core same, M3 Pro has better GPU & Memory bandwidth. Remember 18GB vs 16GB of RAM and dual fan vs single-fan...

That's pretty definitive. M4 is pretty impressive. Either one is outside my price point. Gotta wait

Sure, but those two are different form factors, desktop vs laptop.

This is a true Apple to Apple comparison ๐Ÿ˜€ and this is Slickdeals

At $1500, this one year old laptop isn't a good price. Other than graphics performance, most users are better buying the new MacBook Pro with the M4 chip.

If the deal is $1300, then thumbs up, but not $1500. That is not a deal especially with the M4 costing less.

Ok but if you care about the graphics use, wouldn't you also be the type of user who would prefer a 16" varient anyway, making even the $1800 not a general good fit?

This forum is called " Slickdeals".

@$1500 for a one year old MacBook Pro 14" M3 Pro is not slick nor a deal when you can get the new MacBook Pro 14" M4 for $1400.

If this laptop is priced @$1300 then we're ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

M3 Pro is significantly faster than M4 base for GPU heavy workloads and is quieter with two fans

I care a lot about th GPU performance on my 14". Bigger isn't better for everyone, but that's a separate question from performance.
