I am an advanced hobbyist woodworker, and I have (at last count), 9 different wood routers. I use them for a variety of things, but to be honest I have a bit of a router problem...
Anyway, if I had to have only one router, it would be this one.
It is a great balance between price, power, features, and ergonomics.

Ha, do you just not like changing bits? I would suppose you have at least a couple trim routers and larger plunge such as this, and at least something table mounted.

What's the one you use (when you can) and the one you wish you could use (when you can't)?

It's nice to have multiple routers when using matched pair router bits, like tongue and groove bits, so you don't lose your depth setting if you end up switch back and forth.
It's also nice to have multiple if you have a router table/cabinet, so you can just keep one in there.
Cordless trim routers are convenient, I guess.
I built furniture professionally and can't imagine using more than the 3 I have (2 corded, 1 cordless.)
Anyway, I think I paid about this much for this router about a decade ago and it lives in a router lift now. It's been great.

Which router lifts do you recommend?

cons against this router is the bushings. You need to use theirs and not the more common PC or use adapter. Introduces more slop.
I do have this router but looking for a pair of routers now for dedicating to dovetail jig. So looking for one that supports pc bushings (eyeing DW618)

I bought an aftermarket baseplate to get around the bushing issue...would recommend.
If you're considering this router, get this combo kit. I deeply regret just getting the router because now I want the plunge base + case and it's egregiously expensive to buy individually.
If this is your first router, be aware this has an on/off switch and not triggers. I personally find it very awkward to turn on the switch while holding the router in position with the other hand, on/off is required if you want to use it in a table. If you want this router with triggers, look at the MRF23EVS. I'll likely "upgrade" to that router at some point and help rationalize it by getting the plunge base combo that time.
I have this same router and bought it for this same reduced price last year. It's excellent. I also have a fixed base Dewalt sitting in my router table and a Makita 18V trim router.
I use this router as part of my router sled on rails (since I dont have space or need for a legit jointer), and also for my dovetail jig. The micro adjustments are excellent. It's heavy and there is minimal vibration.
This is the best kit for this router, and this is the best general-purpose full-size router out there IMO. Its been around a long time, and its nice to see that inflation hasn't driven up the sale price ($169). You can find front-page deals from 2017 for this same model and price.
If you don't care about the plunge base, Lowes has the fixed base plus router for 139.99. I just got one for a second router table so less switching bits. https://www.lowes.com/pd/Bosch-2-...r/50056435

Oh this has that dumb switch like the fixed Bosch. The grief that causes me as a lefty. Even when I slowly reach up I still end up moving a bit. That's a dumb trigger location, even with a guide base
