Been loving my ESP that I bought a month ago. I couldn't wait any longer or I'd have bought this or the ESP on sale.

I have the ESP bought for $135 last year but it is messy. Will this one be less messy? I can always sell my esp on used market without losing much

I just bought the Moccamaster from the deal a week or two ago. I currently have an OXO burr grinder. Is this worth the upgrade for my drip coffee? Picked up a Fellow Shimmy coffee sieve to get rid of any fines.

Did a little poking around because I was curious - from a Reddit thread. I would say it depends if you're grinding for espresso or drip, but probably not worth it unless you want the premium build.

"Virtuoso is basically an Encore with upgraded burrs. Lots of parts are interchangeable between the two.

ESP is a great all in one option for the money. If you're doing filter and espresso then it's hard to beat if you want a single grinder. It would perform very similarly to the Virtuoso for filter settings, but better for espresso. The biggest difference is the variable pitch threading for the ESP which gives you finer adjustments at the smaller sizes.

If you're not opposed to two grinders, you could keep the Virtuoso and get an espresso specific single dose grinder. Otherwise if you like the Virtuoso but want something that grinds with finer adjustability, that's exactly what the ESP is."

edit: I'd suggest watching this James Hoffman video which covers the ESP, have you tried misting your beans if you're dealing with mess? https://youtu.be/G7xGhGtvYIs?si=3SFbcBqUcurY_w9_

I just ordered the oxo burr grinder. I have a Philip 4300 I use to make espressos. Should I return the oxo and get this or stick to the oxo for grinding my beans for my pour overs ?

I guess the next up is the Vario. I'll wait for a better deal or a refurbished one. I did not mist the beans

I do not get fines outside the grinder in my Virtuoso+. Some do get outside the receiver but it clings to the walls. I love mine. They also have VERY good documentation online to help you troubleshoot any problems that may arise. Helped me avoid service when a wire came loose.

Put a few drops of water into the coffee beans just before you grind. Just like a half dozen drops. That wont allow the static electricity to build up. And that's where the mess comes from. I learned that little trick here on SD and it changed my life. Passing it on now so it can change yours.
