  • This deal works out to $15 per month. A nice offer since Mint Mobile typically only offers this sort of promotional pricing on shorter duration plans.
  • Please see the original post for additional details & give the WIKI and additional forum comments a read for helpful discussion.

I had Mint for one year until about 6 months ago. Two things made me switch to US Mobile: data prioritization and extra fees significantly increasing the price at renewal.

Data prioritization: I live in a semi-rural area, so the vast majority of the time this wasn't an issue. However, occasionally on weekends when people were home my phone data would slow to a crawl. Where it became untenable was during power outages (including lengthy ones during natural disasters). My phone data was literally useless. I couldn't even check the weather apps. This was my #1 reason for switching to an MVNO that included priority data.

Fees: US Mobile charges you the stated price, inclusive of taxes and fees. Mint's price was much higher than expected due to taxes and what seemed like extraneous fees.

So far I have much preferred US Mobile. Even though I have to use the Verizon network (slower data speeds) in order to get priority data, I haven't had any issues and it's still plenty fast. During the last major power outage I had zero issues with data. I plan to keep them when it comes time to renew.

Not really! There is a $25 "recovery fee" and other fees which might bring the mint deal within a few dollars of the visible one

When you go to this page, it states at the bottom T&C this is only for new customers. If you login to your account and try to find the discounted plan it is non-existent. If you know a workaround please let us know. Thanks.

I am seeing a recovery fee of $25.25. Looks very strange to me. Is that a normal ?
I see the same thing...

With Google Voice you can always be a new customer. Stuck in target 3 month 20gb/month plan, will wait a bit longer to buy it, I am sure with this plan you have to activate within 45 days of purchase.
I was wondering about doing this with Google voice. Like if you use the same phone, but just buy a different sim (ie. get a new mint number), would that count as being a new customer or do they track your phone's IMEI to prevent this?

This fee always existed when you buy from their website but not for kits sold by retailers (Target, BB, etc).
I guess there is no kits for this from retailers?

Target, BB but not the same deal. And also no recovery fees, only sales tax
Target has a couple 3-month plans on sale, last time I checked. 20GB and UNL(10GB hotspot).

Do you have to use the esim they send you to activate or can you just ignore it and keep your current number? I definitely don't want to change my number.

One can also look at cashback sites to sweeten the deal. I see $10 CB available on one site.

$25+ recovery fee plus ~$4 tax kill this deal.

So I switched from Mint to US mobile exactly a month ago and I renewed US mobile this month again. So if I get this deal and wait for 45 days to activate, can I port back to Mint (it'll be 2.5 months since I left Mint)?

I currently have Mint and would like to purchase this, but I have an esim. Will I be able be able to use it with already having a current account? I can easily use another email address, but will they be able to track it with my esim number?
Call in to cancel and see if they can offer it to you -- not sure because the lowest they offered me was $160 on 15gb and I didn't ask about unlimited.

Option 2 is to port out and back in. We usually port out to Tello on a $5 plan then switch back as a new customer in a couple of days, but I've done it same day also.
