  • This deal works out to $15 per month. A nice offer since Mint Mobile typically only offers this sort of promotional pricing on shorter duration plans.

I had Mint for one year until about 6 months ago. Two things made me switch to US Mobile: data prioritization and extra fees significantly increasing the price at renewal.

Data prioritization: I live in a semi-rural area, so the vast majority of the time this wasn't an issue. However, occasionally on weekends when people were home my phone data would slow to a crawl. Where it became untenable was during power outages (including lengthy ones during natural disasters). My phone data was literally useless. I couldn't even check the weather apps. This was my #1 reason for switching to an MVNO that included priority data.

Fees: US Mobile charges you the stated price, inclusive of taxes and fees. Mint's price was much higher than expected due to taxes and what seemed like extraneous fees.

So far I have much preferred US Mobile. Even though I have to use the Verizon network (slower data speeds) in order to get priority data, I haven't had any issues and it's still plenty fast. During the last major power outage I had zero issues with data. I plan to keep them when it comes time to renew.
Not really! There is a $25 "recovery fee" and other fees which might bring the mint deal within a few dollars of the visible one
When you go to this page, it states at the bottom T&C this is only for new customers. If you login to your account and try to find the discounted plan it is non-existent. If you know a workaround please let us know. Thanks.

Tried to use two Amex cards via chat, she said they could not do that.
I called and the agent also confirmed no option for her to use two cards.

But you can't port your current number as part of this process. What are folks doing about that?

I really want to leave ATT. I pay over 60 a month.

You have to get a new number? That isn't going work, I'm trying port from ATT too!

They offer this to me at the end of each purchase. Read your texts from Mint. This is no deal. Mint is always $15. Essentially u are paying prepaid prices and u are such with them for a year. Worse than a contact because u must pay in full upfront.
Interesting. I just looked through 3 years of past texts and emails from them on multiple lines and don't see this offer. Almost all of the messages from Mint are renewal reminders, suggestions to upgrade data for our teen's line, or telling us about referring a friend for $$$.

The only times I see any kind of bonus was $15 off renewal (which is nothing considering the price increase from buying the SIM from Best Buy); and once to sign up for the 12-month plan and get $120 off the 4GB tier (now 5GB) -- which still made it the regular $15.

This past summer I stayed when they gave me a bonus to go along with the $90 referral I earned. They emailed a link but it wouldn't show up in my account so I had to call their dreaded customer service. But in the end after tax and all of their junk fees, it was $72 for 6 months on the 15GB plan.

What are y'all talking about?? AT&T doesn't own your number. Sign up and they'll tell you what info you need from AT&T -- usually your name, account number, account PIN and possibly zip code. Companies not letting you take your number to a different company ended by law over a decade ago.

The recovery fee and tax kills the deal. i am very confused as when a plan charges tax, when not. My kids on US mobile now, US mobile unlimited start is $210 for annual plan, tax fees included. though a little less premium data, i feel better staying with uS mobile, as US mobile has better customer service?
US Mobile has horrible scamtastic service. I signed up with a generic name and email like I do for all of these reseller phone companies, but a letter was left out in my email address and I'd already went through the entire sign-up process including porting in my number. When I realized it, I tried to go back to correct it but they wanted to verify it was me by sending a link to the email that was wrong (duh)!

They would not release my phone number or give me any account info without me sending them my PASSPORT! When I said no way, so they sent me a link (to seem legit) to some shady site called something like "verifyyourself.us" and told me to upload one of the options there -- again, passport, driver license, SSN card. NONE of this would verify the name or phone number on my US Mobile account.
Told them screw you, keep the number and went back to Mint Mobile. Sent texts to everyone in my contact list with my new number.
It was already suspicious of choosing the name "US" Mobile and putting the logo of the eagle and flag to seem US based when they are not. Now these random people in a call center on the other side of the world want my passport uploaded to this bootleg website. Nah.

Thanks OP. Just ordered! Moving from Redpocket GSMA to this. Total $208. Cheaper than Redpocket 12GB, 360 days deal. At least I've the option of paying for roaming when I'm on biz travel.

For existing customers: call customer service and ask for a port out pin citing price is too high. They offered me:

$60 off a 5gb plan or
$80 off a 15gb plan or
$120 off an unlimited plan.

Mint data is always deprioritized, right? If so, then this is not a deal at all.

i had a renewal on 12/10 so i called up to find any kind of retention, the customer service had no idea what that means, i tried an hour to split my payment with 2 amex cards to atleast get the cash back , she was so naive she paid it in full and messed a lot of things but end of the day no offers for me and stuck for another year.
I know it's hindsight but you don't ask for retention, just ask for you account number so you can port out. Then they'll try to keep you. Also, the other option for splitting the payment is to add money to your account wallet with one card, then another addition to your account wallet with the other card.

Can I port back the Google voice number? I don't trust the call forwarding. Also not sure if porting back my old number is considered "new" customer.

It's cheaper than other options, but it's really a deal with the AMEX $45 offer and other cash back link.

That's clever, except would Amex reject the cashback since the charges were not "make a single purchase of a wireless plan"? Seems risky.
