  • This deal works out to $15 per month. A nice offer since Mint Mobile typically only offers this sort of promotional pricing on shorter duration plans.
  • Please see the original post for additional details & give the WIKI and additional forum comments a read for helpful discussion.

I had Mint for one year until about 6 months ago. Two things made me switch to US Mobile: data prioritization and extra fees significantly increasing the price at renewal.

Data prioritization: I live in a semi-rural area, so the vast majority of the time this wasn't an issue. However, occasionally on weekends when people were home my phone data would slow to a crawl. Where it became untenable was during power outages (including lengthy ones during natural disasters). My phone data was literally useless. I couldn't even check the weather apps. This was my #1 reason for switching to an MVNO that included priority data.

Fees: US Mobile charges you the stated price, inclusive of taxes and fees. Mint's price was much higher than expected due to taxes and what seemed like extraneous fees.

So far I have much preferred US Mobile. Even though I have to use the Verizon network (slower data speeds) in order to get priority data, I haven't had any issues and it's still plenty fast. During the last major power outage I had zero issues with data. I plan to keep them when it comes time to renew.

Not really! There is a $25 "recovery fee" and other fees which might bring the mint deal within a few dollars of the visible one

When you go to this page, it states at the bottom T&C this is only for new customers. If you login to your account and try to find the discounted plan it is non-existent. If you know a workaround please let us know. Thanks.

Visible+ is now $30/month for 25 months with SWITCH25 code. I signed up for their BF deal, which was $35/mo, but saw their new promo the morning after their BF deal expired. I had to cancel my order (pSIM was on its way to my house) and signed up with their new promo.
Yeah, I was wondering why they said that they couldn't get the deal. I might give it a try just before it ends in Jan. I just bought a couple 3-month 20GB sims from Target during BF for $30 ($10/mo.)

I know this is somewhat comparing Apples to Oranges, but I am on the Visible $15 promotion (for port-ins from T-Mobile). After taxes/fees that mint adds for my zip code, this comes out to $210.83, which is equivalent to $17.57 / month. That is a 17% premium to jump from VZW to T-M's towers but I also lose "unlimited" data (technically mint deprioritizes at 40GB while visible "should" not), and I would also lose unlimited hotspot (visible caps it at 5Mbps but doesn't limit the amount of data as opposed to mint capping this out at 10GB).
Also technically visible doesn't require me to pay for an entire year up front ;-)

Seems like a steep price to pay just for T-mobile's MUCH faster network in Seattle.
Thoughts anyone?

Wish I could take advantage of this but I've been with them for a couple of years. That being said, I am very happy with them.I never have reception issues and I'm spending so much less than I was with T Mobile!
Thank you for mentioning you liking Mint and saving over T Mo. I have T Mobile, and wondering if I should take the leap? Do your texts come right away or is there a lag?

I'm switching to this from Visible. I left mint for the $15/month for 5 year deal in September, and am moving back. Visible by me is very slow, I had great speed on mint.

Just for 12 months, vs 3 months. Because after the 3 months, its back to the full price.

The absolute worst customer service in existence with this shite company.
TBH, with prepaid, I've never had great customer service with any of them.

Mint is on its way to becoming another metro pcs, other mvnos etc. growing too fast & prices reflect that (without any of the benefits). Couple of cool benefits added since inception - trade-in phones, new phone promos, & streaming service trials (paramount+)

Since the service & data worsened over time, these little things didnt mean much to me when i can port out and get the same plan+quality at half the price (infinity mobile).

Also spoke to a customer rep before porting out. I didnt like that when i requested my account number, the rep kept honey potting me by trying to compete with discounts (wouldve ended up being more than this new customer promo but comparable at $200+tax).

Either way ended up leaving - not that mint mobile hasnt been good phone service, just the price is not justifiable anymore.

Port existing number to Google voice. Create new mint account, forward google voice number to new mint number. Ezpz
So by doing this, you will be considered a new customer? Do you need to keep the # at GV for a number of days before porting back to mint?

Anyone in California sign up for the year service ,

what was the total cost with taxes and fees ?

This is a decent deal because you can keep the same phone number for the year compared to buying 3 months at a time from Best Buy deals .
