  • This deal works out to $15 per month. A nice offer since Mint Mobile typically only offers this sort of promotional pricing on shorter duration plans.
  • Please see the original post for additional details & give the WIKI and additional forum comments a read for helpful discussion.

I had Mint for one year until about 6 months ago. Two things made me switch to US Mobile: data prioritization and extra fees significantly increasing the price at renewal.

Data prioritization: I live in a semi-rural area, so the vast majority of the time this wasn't an issue. However, occasionally on weekends when people were home my phone data would slow to a crawl. Where it became untenable was during power outages (including lengthy ones during natural disasters). My phone data was literally useless. I couldn't even check the weather apps. This was my #1 reason for switching to an MVNO that included priority data.

Fees: US Mobile charges you the stated price, inclusive of taxes and fees. Mint's price was much higher than expected due to taxes and what seemed like extraneous fees.

So far I have much preferred US Mobile. Even though I have to use the Verizon network (slower data speeds) in order to get priority data, I haven't had any issues and it's still plenty fast. During the last major power outage I had zero issues with data. I plan to keep them when it comes time to renew.

Not really! There is a $25 "recovery fee" and other fees which might bring the mint deal within a few dollars of the visible one

When you go to this page, it states at the bottom T&C this is only for new customers. If you login to your account and try to find the discounted plan it is non-existent. If you know a workaround please let us know. Thanks.

I still don't understand how they can tack on a $25 fee FROM MINT and say this is only $175.
It's $200 or so more after tax.
This service fee is a scam the same way resort fees are for hotels.

Just an FYI for people already on a plan and are about to renew or people who are near the end of their 3 month trial plan, I called their retention department and was able to save $40 on my plan renewal. I'm on the 15 GB plan for $240 and also had a $45 referral credit. I ended up paying $179 after taxes / fees for 12 months of 15 GB. I also asked them about my mom's plan that I had referred her to recently (I got $45 and she got $15). They were able to apply a 4 months free promotion and an additional $60 off so she was only charged $79 after taxes and fees for 12 months of 5 GB. She doesn't use her phone much for data but it's hard to beat at only around $6.50 per month.

I've enjoyed their service this past year. I get gigabit speeds at my home (over 1,000 mb/s dl) using cellular data (not wifi). Just sooo much better than the poor signal / service I had with Verizon while also paying $90 per month at Verizon. I wish I would have switched to one of these lower priced companies years ago... would have saved me thousands.

Edit: I called their customer service phone number at 1-800-683-7392 and hit prompts 3, then 2, then 1 to get a human on the phone. It takes you to their technical support but you can just ask for the retention department and they will transfer. The lady on the phone in retention was able to apply these discounts while on the phone but you will need to have payment method ready in your online account for them to apply the credits.
Thank you for your post! I have an existing plan expiring the end of Jan, and I'm gonna try calling the retention department as you stated. One question: I have multiple Amex cards with Mint offers (45 credit for spend 90). Would the Mint agent at the retention department be able to take multiple Amex cards for the payment?

That I do not know. It might be possible to split payment if it is able to be done when checking out as a new customer. I assume the customer service rep may have a way to do this but will have to ask them to be sure. If splitting the payment is allowed normally then I would assume they would be able to also do it over the phone but I think you would have to have both payment methods saved to your Mint account as they make the payment with the discounts using what is saved and ask you to confirm the last 4 digits of the card before making the payment while on the phone.

Been a nightmare with Mint. Didn't have mms or group text. After working for about a week (including a day with 0 service) they have told me that apple iphone doesn't work with group text since the last update and they are working on an update.

Perfect timing. Have a Europe trip planned in <60 days and currently locked in with AT&T and they charge $10/day for their International Plan. This will save me $$$. Thanks!

Many of us have tried, but couldn't find a way to use multiple AMEX offers for new customers. If you are existing customer and renewing existing plan, you might be able to load balance to your wallet with mutlple $90 using different amex cards. Search this thread and you will see many discussiions of how to.
