So stupid question for the smart people in the group, can I use this as a weatherproof backyard speaker? Would it be worth it? Anything else I would need to get for it besides an amp?
Edit: it looks like slickdeals link is messing up the direct link. you can get to it by searching for MT10HLW

You'll need a receiver of some sort and then also (depending on how your amp operates) a power supply
Having actually purchased these for my boat from the Slickdeals post back in the summer (in which these were $400 and have stayed that way for the last 6 months) - I think there's better options for a backyard. These are designed to cast sound out vs fill an area. For a backyard this would be cool if you had these speakers against the house that you were trying to get to a playset or a pool far away but also a really good way to anger the neighbors
Just my 2ยข but there's better options (for much similar cost once you factor in all those other pieces you would need to use these)

Why though? There's hundreds of different outdoor speakers that are suited for backyards that are not designed for boats.

More of a noob thought that just popped into my head when I saw it. What would you recommend for a backyard? I'd prefer something that is idiot proof because i don't like troubleshooting my own equipment. I like things to just work without a lot of workaround.

How do you like them for the boat? I keep eyeing them for my Centurion Avalanche but not sure I need HLCD's, mainly looking to hear it surfing or in the water when swimming around near the boat.

Unfortunately by the time I installed them I've only been able to do the garage test in which I can definitely say they are loud! From what I can tell these definitely don't have the clarity a similar sized set of wetsounds or JL has. That said, the stock 6.5" that came on my Tige RZ2 weren't enough to get to me wakeboarding at 70' out and I wasn't interested in "Actually" paying )$1500 a pair (like these claim to be) for Wetsounds or JL. Looking forward to getting a real world test next May!
