This does have a better display but also a less performant CPU, less (and soldered RAM), no ethernet port.

That is also $200 more in case you didn't notice, of course it's going to be better.

Right I was saying I think it's worth the $200 extra.

The screen size is completely different. Can't compare a 14 to a 16

This is the story....

Look for a 8840HS or a 8845HS chipset. It has a built in 780m which can play games at low settings... BUT it can play games!!!

And do you really need 32GB and if you do then you would most likely looking for a system that you can upgrade your own RAM.

I really wish people wouldn't come into these threads and say X is a better deal while X costs $200 more. $25-50 sure, but someone looking at $659 deal is probably not looking to spend an extra $200.

Not really, someone might have a flexible budget and would be happy to have been informed of the $800 deal. More information is not necessarily a bad thing. If it doesn't apply to someone they can just ignore.

soldered RAM on 16-inch Z series is really brutal when it is just 16GB. And having no dGPU adds to the insult.

This is deals forum and people are not only nitpicking, they may genuinely be sharing information about other systems in case those with flexible budget can weigh-in the pros and cons.

What on earth are you going on about and to whom.

Is this one of those trolling with Apples to banana peels comparisons?

Some people think EVERYONE plays games and can't fathom using a laptop that doesn't have a gaming-capable GPU in it. I could probably go my whole life without a dGPU and be just fine. Current iGPU's are powerful enough for encoding/decoding and media consumption which I think is most important to people who aren't shopping an actual gaming laptop.

Lenovo Ideapad 5 16" that sports a 8845HS was selling manufactured refurbished for about $500 a few weeks ago.

The ideapad has a better CPU (one year old VS two years old).

The main difference is 16GB of RAM vs 32GB and 8845HS vs this CPU. I would think that 16GB of RAM with a 8845hs will always perform faster then the 32GB of RAM and the Ryzen 7.........

I have seen it for $530 open box models on ebay.... but even brand new it is cheaper then this deal!!!

The real question is... is the build quality of the thinkpad that much better then the ideapad.... and even if it is, who cares? I have a 13 year old Dell (their cheapest laptop) that still works and is used daily, but I did upgrade the RAM and harddrives, it is a i5 3rd gen 17.3" which I purchased for $350 in the day.

I love lenovo laptop but one thing you need to know is they always raise up the fake price to couple thousand of dollars then mark the item as on sale. I bought a ThinkBook AMD OLED 64gb 1TB for $1,300 but returned and get this Asus OLED for $800 at staples. https://www.staples.com/asus-vivo...t_24595132
