Dyson has the same deal as well and they also have the V11 for 80 dollars more. Anybody care to elaborately on which is better between those 2? I've had the V8 for about 6 years now but it's getting tired
I have firsthand experience with the v8, V10, v11, and v15. My vote goes to the v8 and V10. They are significantly lighter and clean just as well in my opinion. I would only get the higher models if the price is really good or you need the longer run times. I haven't been disappointed by any of them in terms of performance.

Just purchased for the wife for Christmas. We have a Dyson ball which I'm not very impressed with. Hard to vacuum on the carpet the suction is incredible which is a good thing. Hoping this will be easier for us to push around.
Hey I thought the same thing too when I first got my Dyson ball. I discovered there is a suction setting (manual) where you slide the suction head up and down away from the floor. Adjusting that will reduce the push on the carpet and this will improve your wife's experience. You're likely using the "flat floor" setting on heavy carpet, creating a lot of friction.

I really dislike that they changed the voltage. These batteries always fail within a few years and using power tool batteries in my V8 is wonderful. An upgrade is tempting though. My V8 has been beaten to death over the last 5 years.
It truly is a great hack with a V8 and Ryobi batteries!

Seemingly picks up dust a lot better than roller attachment. There are several aftermarket with various reviews on Amazon. Dyson brand is like $100

Dyson Fluffy cleaner head, also known as the Soft Roller cleaner head, is specifically designed for hard floors. It features a soft woven nylon roller that envelops debris, while anti-static carbon fiber filaments remove fine dust, allowing it to simultaneously capture both large debris and fine particles without scratching delicate surfaces.
Uses:
  • Hard Floors: The Fluffy head excels on surfaces like hardwood, tile, and linoleum, effectively picking up fine dust and larger debris such as cereal or pet food without scattering them.
    Cleaners Talk
  • Delicate Surfaces: Its gentle design ensures that sensitive flooring materials are cleaned without damage.
Comparison with Other Dyson Cleaner Heads:
  • High Torque (Motorbar) Cleaner Head:
    • Design: Equipped with stiff nylon bristles to agitate and remove dirt from carpets, along with anti-static carbon fiber filaments to capture fine dust from hard floors.
      Dyson Community
    • Performance: Versatile for both carpets and hard floors, but may not match the Fluffy head's efficiency on hard surfaces. The High Torque head can be used on both carpet and bare floors, but the Soft Roller cleaner head is much more effective on smooth surfaces.
      Vacuum Cleaner Advisor
  • Direct Drive Cleaner Head:
    • Design: Features a motorized brush bar with bristles designed to deep clean carpets.
    • Performance: Effective on carpets; can be used on hard floors but may not perform as gently or effectively as the Fluffy head.
Choosing the Best Cleaner Head:
  • Predominantly Hard Floors: The Fluffy cleaner head is ideal due to its superior performance on such surfaces.
  • Mixed Flooring: A High Torque or Direct Drive head offers versatility across different floor types.

In for one from EBay and an aftermarket fluffy head. I appreciate the comments and discussion re battery life, weight, fluffyhead, which I wasn't familiar with and extra warranty when buying through EBay. I'm using a DC44 Animal I purchased 10 - 11 years ago that has a spotty trigger and short run time. Looks like I just about wrung all the life out of that thing. Thanks OP for the post and all the SDers for the very helpful comments.
One question, would searching on Temu for a fluffy head be too risky just to save a few bucks or is it better to stick with aftermarket on Amazon?

Also, same price as a NEW v7 right now on sd. Which one to choose??
The difference between 7 and 10 is way more than 3. My 7 would run 12 minutes, tops, and only do real work on high setting. My current 10 will run through 3 bin emptyings and still have some charge left... about 30 minutes. It also actually pulls pet hair from carpet. No comparison whatsoever.

I'm looking for an aftermarket fluffy head too.
Which one did you buy?
Thanks!

After reading the reviews for the off branded ones,, I went with an OEM Dyson on Amazon for $74.99.
