How are these batteries? I've gotten D batteries from dollar store before, and they weigh about the same as a AA battery.

Some have reported they leak but I've not had that issue and just bought a 12 pack (thus I don't have the 40% off coupon). I only have one thing that I use Ds for. My kitchen garbage can and so far so good. If you live in the northeast, Shop-Rite typically has Kodak at a dollar a battery. Recently it was 6 total for five bucks. This is cheaper than that and for my purpose, as long as they don't leak, I'm happy. Other brands can be much more expensive that as I said in another post, it really depends on the device as far as longevity goes.

No kidding, every time someone posts an alkaline battery deal on SD, someone inevitably chimes in and claims that [insert brand] leaks. All alkaline batteries have that risk.

I've never had a problem with these either. I use the AA size in my door locks, so they get changed out every 6–8 months. They also tend to last a bit longer than regular alkaline batteries.

Ski, I've not had any leaking issues with Alkaline except once and that was on me. I had a remote I saved despite throwing out the TV and forgot about it. Right years later, I found it in a drawer and saw that the batteries (brand unknown) had leaked. I never buy heavy duty batteries because they will eventually always corrode.
