I don't know where you're getting the "no NPU" thing, think it's standard on the chip and it's advertised with this laptop.

All that said, this is a great deal. The usual "Windows on ARM" disclaimers, make sure you research what programs you'll specifically need, this isn't for everyone, blah blah blah. But for a good many users, this is a solid machine.

Yeah when drafting the post, I was using the online compare feature on Microcenter to figure out if there were any differences compared to the recent $799 deal. The tool said "N/A" under NPU. I took a deeper look at the description and have since removed that line of the post.

The only thing stopping me from buying a Snapdragon X PC is lack of Lightroom Classic support natively.

The price of these Snapdragon laptops is falling fast. Reports show that only 1% of laptops sold were Snapdragons. I think it is a mistake that Microsoft went all in with Snapdragon on their best-selling line, Surface Pro. They should have included an Intel variant. Now Mircrosoft is going to suffer the sale.

The proper Lunar Lake alternative to look at is the MSI Prestige 13

Vs

Lighter than the Surface Laptop, OLED display, faster performance esp. gaming/gpu, similar runtimes...and 100% compatibility.
Price?

It does seem like these are dropping pretty fast. However, I don't think Microsoft will let these go super low fire sale prices as it's supposed to be a MacBook competitor. However, next year a lunar lake version is coming out so I'm not sure what that will do to the prices for these laptops.

I like this laptop a lot as I've been testing it for my basic uses. it's great! however, with the new version coming out next year with lunar lake, these might get dumped. I'm not really sure what to do

BB instore tried price match but their system didn't allow due to very low price. Got the PM over chat. Planning to return the Pro 11 - $100 less and saved keyboard cost.

Just DON'T EVEN BOTHER.

Microsoft launched ARM-based laptops with the Surface Pro X on SQ1 cpu in 2019...with crap emulation.
Then the SQ2 X a bit later, followed by the Surface Pro 9 ARM, and now SnapX CPUs.

5~ YEARS and despite BILLIONS of dollars and 10,000s of software programmers, MicroCrap has NOT even come close to 100% emulation compatibility with common x64-bit Windows apps that run fine on Intel and AMD cpus laptops.

....

Even big companies like Adobe STILL haven't released fully working, 100% feature identical ARM apps - even Premiere is still missing features 5 years on.

.......

And that doesn't even include the horrible driver support for older peripherals.
I've been running a Surface Pro X for years. Windows 10 was horrible, Windows 11 is awesome. Fabulous battery life, excellent build quality, try it before you crap all over it.

Just look it up .. no need to guess. But if you want/need flexibility for software you _may_ use in the future, then avoid.
Thanks. I did some research. Many tools I use can run on WoA but a few have no information regarding compatibility. So, to me, this X is worse than going for a Mac/Linux but better than getting a Chromebook. Maybe in the future I can get one for light work and medium consumption etc but not now or for an away from office computer to run all of my desktop apps.

It'll take more than a few billions to improve the experience. Give any new tech a solid decade or two. Same issue with folding phones...

Yes I successfully got BB to price match the prior Front Page deal on my second attempt. First rep said no bc it was a "limited stock item" which violates BB PM policy. Second rep didn't even question it and immediately did the PM.

Personally speaking, I got cold feet on the WoA/16 GB and will return it to BB without opening. I instead grabbed today's Costco deal of the Lenovo Slim 7i with 32GB RAM.
I thought of picking the Costco Lenovo but I hate the 1080p resolution.
Seriously for this price point they are still giving low resolution and no fingerprint

Unless there is a REAL demand. Apple pulled it off because they gave no alternative. Want to do business with Apple after Intel? Then develop or go out of business. Windows can't do that even if it had the resolve to. Simply too many legacy and critical societal industries and government rely on Windows to ever flip the switch like Apple did.
