I think this is a pretty decent deal. I posted in another thread but mods removed it because I used two initials for a cash back site. I had paid $1560 after tax/CB for a refurbished ("like new") Alienware from Dell outlet with i9-14900f, 4080 super, 32gb ddr5. That could have been even cheaper with the 10% off new user coupon and CC cash back. So anywhere from 30-35% cheaper than this.

But I canceled it and paid $1165 (after tax/CB) for an i7-14700, 4070 ti super, 16GB. So about half the price of this for roughly 15% less speed and refurbed.

My buddy and I both got refurbed Alienwares from Dell Outlet 7 years ago and they both are still running well. My deal above wasn't as epic as that i7-7700 with 1080 Ti for <$1200, but I hope to get another 7 years out of it and it should be more than enough for 1440p.

To all the people who say you should build because of better value, components, or upgradeability, I strongly disagree. Since 2001, I have built 5 gaming rigs. If you are building to learn or teach someone about PCs, then it may be worth it. If you live near a MicroCenter (as I did for 2 of them), then you can almost reach the cost of prebuilts, but otherwise prebuilts are significantly cheaper. And if you value your time, there is no comparison--not only assembly, but time spent looking for deals on the multiple components. Similarly, I think it is almost never worth upgrading HW other than RAM and storage, unless you enjoy flipping stuff.

Of course the best value proposition is paying $17/mo for GeForce Now on a weak PC that you only change when it fails. If you factor in initial cost (vs keeping that cash in index funds) and energy costs, it isn't even close. But I am old and stubborn in my ways.

Edit: Corrected price of GF now ultimate. Also made a spreadsheet roughly comparing the costs of gaming vs non-gaming. It only comes out to about $5k at 25 yrs, so it doesn't seem to be a big difference. You can download this to your Google drive and adjust the variables (in green). I don't know the energy use of gaming vs non-gaming when doing things other than gaming so I didn't include that.

Decent deal if you don't want to build your own and/or don't have a microcenter nearby. DIY would get you faster memory, better PSU and a slightly better motherboard for about the same price. But this one you don't have to put together, and it has a simplified warranty/return if something doesn't work.

Got this for 1999 minus 200 credit minus 200 shop card. I ordered the BF deal of the IBUYPOWER slatemesh 8, they sent an underspec'd computer (I'm not the only one this happened to, at least one other review on the computer shows the same lower tier PC they sent), so after a lot of chatting they said they'd comp 400 off another computer.

So I ordered this one. Chatted back in tonight and after much pushing based on the previous promised comp this computer was 1599 + taxes for me. If anyone else got screwed in that previous deal, I'd recommend you do the same. Extremely slick for a 4080 super build.

Ha, like I said, order the previous computer I mentioned and then get sent a much cheaper computer by "mistake" just like other people, then raise a holy ruckus about it. I would have been happy with the computer I ordered, but I'll certainly take what I ended up getting!

I should have mentioned, their proposed "solution" was to offer me a $50 gas card to drive 2.5 hours round trip to the nearest store location that had that one in stock. I declined.

Ok found someone on YouTube posted a video/image of the internal.

The heat sink looks to be a MSI mag coreliquid m360.

Kingston NV2 2TB SSD

Motherboard MSI Pro B650-VC WIFI II

MSI Ventus 4080 Super (possibly) looks the same.

Not sure … I didn't run the numbers. But I am not too inclined to build my own….

I am thinking about getting one to maybe hold depending on tariff situation. But I have a fairly new pc just need a better GPU and the 50 series are right around the corner. However same could be said about the tariff right around the corner. These are all within 90 days of the Costco return period.

And better yet this would be a good heater for the winter.

They use random parts so you could get different motherboard, graphics card, ram, ssd, etc based on what they have in stock at time of building.
It has 3 fans

Quoted wrong guy … some guy said it was 2 fan, it's not.

The guy above you actually.

I also ordered the BF Costco IBP Statemesh deal and cancelled it for this, drove to Costco and picked one up. So far, it is a solid build, maintains temps, overclocks nicely, and is is quieter than you'd expect. The only thing on it that I would want to change is upgrading the SSD in the near future from the Kingston 2GB that comes with it.

Is it a 3 fan? Was I right about the type of heatsink and motherboards?

Most sites I see say the psu should be 850 watts for a 4080 system.

I think there is a misunderstanding. The TD aren't because of the link to pcpartpicker, but because you didn't link to a build on it (vs other posters later in the thread). Because most people who build know and use pcpartpicker, linking to it without a build could be interpreted as "go look it up yourself". Eg if someone asks a question and another person replies with www.google.com [google.com].
You assume people know of PCPartPicker. It's not YouTube. It's not Google. It's not even comparable. Asking for someone to carefully hand craft a build for them and only specifying one product (GPU) is a pretty ridiculous ask. This place has drastically sunk since 2013, and shame on me for participating in the forums expecting otherwise. The reddit style "TU/TD" was the nail in the coffin for this place (and them selling off SD years ago). And I'm not alone in my opinion (source: https://www.reddit.com/r/Frugal/c...referably/)

I'll stick to the "Just For You" section on the app, and that's it for me. Get in, get out. Please don't respond, it's unnecessary as I am no longer debating this with you or anyone else. This is finished and I'm finished participating in the forums. TIA.

I priced it out a few times with microcenter pricing and can't get it down this low with the stated specs.
Can you share your price/hardware pics?
For compatability I chose the only MSI board with the stated specs and didn't include it in a couple bundle. My pricing also didn't include a case

Picked this up on cyber Monday after missing out on the Alienware one I wanted. Went in today and got the price match with no issue. Very happy with this running Solidworks and Farming Simulator 25 on Ultra.
