I just received the first of the bigger-version of these I ordered on BF or CM. (48x24x72). Couldn't believe how heavy each box was...

The boards are extremely strong and durable if you keep them dry and put of noise environments

These are a pain in the ass to put together and move around, especially the middle section. That said? Mine has been holding up for years without issues. I probably would pay a bit more now, but if budget is your top concern, these are a solid choice.

I have this steel shelving unit. The posts' edges are sharp. If you grab them with bare hands (after you've assembled the shelves) or bump into an edge, you'll get a cut. It's not quite safe for children.

I found inserting a cable tie into the hole in which rests the upper tab of the shelf binding the lower and upper columns, helps to prevent separation. My shelves came with MDF panels. I treated the edges with PVA glue and painted the surfaces with primer to seal them against moisture. I'd never consider trying to hold 4000 pounds on these shelves, but they are serviceable. I agree, they are a bear to assemble, particularly solo.
