People have differing opinions obviously, but I have had this since May after replacing an iPad 9 on the trade in deal at the time. I run a Z Fold5 as my phone and having the Pixel as its full size tablet counterpart has been nice. I also purchased the Amazon Fire sylus and use that with it exclusively, works well. I have also done some writing and work on this with a bluetooth mouse and keyboard with success as well. The 128GB is nice to have as the entry level and much more usable than the 64GB my old iPad had. While the screen isn't as nice as that one, I still think it looks good and works well. Performance has not been an issue for me at all (though I dont game much) and battery life has been good; et 2-3 days standby without issue. I also got the speaker dock, and while that works fine, I'm not sure I'd do it again as I just use it for charging 90% of the time. But, that being said music sounds good out of it and it is nice that it doesnt have to take up one of my USB-C chargers. Anyhow, what I think it comes down to, if you are on Android for your phone, I think this is a great choice. If you have an iPhone, the iPad 10 at holiday pricing is probably better.

Budge on this deal only if it is less than $150 with dock. Google pixel tablet division has been disbanded and no more support other than security if left for this now 1.5 yr old tablet. Doesn't have more than 60hz is abysmal in today standards.

I'll have to disagree with the others on the fp scanner. The physical ones always work better and in my experience this one is no exception. Works far better than my Pixel 7.

The tablet is not "old and weak" unless you consider Tensor G2 (roughly comparable to a couple years-old Snapdragon processor) to be weak. It's not exceptional but you don't get that at this price. It's certainly far better than the Exynos 1380 on Samsung tablets at this price and comparable to the Dimensity 9000 on the OnePlus Pad.

It came out about a year and a half ago, around 4 months before the Pixel 8 so not really old imo. The pixel tablet divison has not been disbanded, they are releasing a new iteration a few years into the future (originally Tablet 3 now Tablet 2) since the one scheduled for next year was cancelled.

If you really care about the support life you should also know that the Pixel phones with the same processor just got their OS support extended 2 more years to 5 years total (matches security updates). This has 3 years of OS support so until 2026 which is one year before the Tablet 3 is supposed to be released.

I agree 60hz is a bit of a downer but other than that it's a perfectly serviceable tablet. The OS is fairly smooth and it has the typical pixel software, decent battery life, and a good aspect ratio for media consumption. There isn't much better you can do at this price point. iPads suffer from a lack of storage, the Galaxy Tabs have risen high in prices so the S9 FE with the weaker chip is the only competitor, and the OnePlus Pad has no biometric authentication.

A13 ipad 9 256gb is $280.

So PX Tab G2 256gb should be $280, 128gb $200 to stay competitive.

A13 and G2 are similar performance.

Just picked up this and the Samsung Tab S9 FE. So far, liking the Pixel better. I am currently updating the Pixel to Android 15, so I will see how that goes. Fingerprint reader works fine so far. Since the return window is at the end of January for amazon I will decide then. The geekbench benchmark definitely prefers the Pixel

Thanks for mentioning the Pixel 7 series got five years OS upgrade. I had no idea.... Pleasantly surprised.

OnePlus Pad. Do you mean no fingerprint reader and no secure face unlock?

Yes it has no fp scanner but it does have the basic face unlock.

$99 for a tensor 2 with 5 years of software support? I'm sorry but $99 tablets have mediatek helio g series. This is ridiculous hyperbole. this wouldn't be my first choice but $99 would be ridiculous and less than what it cost to make it. this is already more useful than an iPad 10 because you can actually side load stuff like revanced and new pipe and you can use browsers with desktop extensions.

I'm still using my Galaxy tab S7 and don't plan on replacing it anytime soon but if these were $99 I would buy several of them. clop him around the house as nest devices since they have of that functionality which very few tablets do.

G2 chip was in Pixel 7/7 Pro, so full 2 years old plus they lag 1 or 2 generations in performance behind Snapdragon's. So at least 3 years older chip.

iPad 10th Gen is the direct comparison and this has exact same price at $279. iPad has better integration with iPhone - iMessages/Safari/Passwords/Find My.

Pixel Tablet has a back button/gesture and double the base storage at 128GB.

64GB iPad is built obsolete and lacks space to download videos and all the apps.

Neither are a buy.
