Amazon seems to have this CPU listed twice at different prices.

I've passed on a few opportunities to upgrade to new Raptor Lake (13600kf at $175 and 13700k at $250) ... going to give this one a shot. Only want a new CPU so I can have full control over overclocking / undervolting / BIOS + microcode usage and warranty.

I wouldnt bite on products that have a high risk of degrading running at stock speed.

Upgrading the Bios helps prevent it, but doesn't resolve the base design issue. Just be aware that if you buy it, there is a better chance it fails compared to other options. Even with the warranty they have in place, it isn't a ton of fun to remove a CPU after assembly. Plus you would have the downtime (if that matters).

Can't beat the prices for Intel recently.

Due to people fearmongering about Intel issues that are fixed, Intel has become the price-performance king for a while now. I got the Woot 13700k for $200, and even the 13600k/14600k deals have been impressive too. This 14700k deal is pretty good too, who cares about "upgrade path" when a 14700k will be a plenty capable performer for 5+ years.

Everyone rages about the 7800x3d/9800x3d...yeah sure it's great gaming performance but not really great value. Especially if you're not into 1080p gaming, as the x3D advantages quickly hit diminishing returns at higher resolutions. With some of the Intel deals you can get CPU+MB+RAM for less than just a 9800x3D, and the full system will get nearly as good of performance for way less money.

Can't agree more. I am always on value. Have had an AMD every single generation in builds for friends and myself up until AM5. Intel prices right now for 14th and lower is crazy good. Can't recommend them enough. Competition is great. Just need Intel to do a bit better in their next release and we will have a real battle price wise between the two which is great for innovation and the market/consumers.

253 Watts of power is nuts. You may save a few bucks but your electric bill is going to skyrocket.
