My Sam's club membership expired in April. When I clicked the link above it brought me to my Sam's club account to renew for $50. I logged out of my Sam's club account and clicked the link above again. It brought up the new account fields for $20. I used the same email, same name, same address, and same card to fill out. It asked me if I wanted to renew or make a new account - I chose new account. It said "you look familiar" Join or Renew - I chose Join.

My purchases from last year are gone, but I was only charged $20 and I have access now.
They got rid of free shipping. Now there's a minimum $ amount.
Costco member here. Getting tired of dealing with the crowds. Went at 10 am yesterday and lot was full. People were parking in the fire lane.

I mainly buy organic vegetables, fruit, and salads. Mostly fresh, some frozen. How is Sam's for these items?

My sub ends in January and this current deals is good till the end of that month. For people signing up with new email addresses. Learn the [email protected] trick if you have gmail. You can get all the mail to your old address and still comes up as new.

Used to be able to get a yearly subscription for free but that hasn't been an option the last couple of years. Seem's $15 is the cheapest now.

Don't see the value in Plus. I never get stopped going in early. Maybe free shipping and curbside but I don't use that. You can get tires cheaper buying them off Walmart.com, no shit look it up.

If you don't use scan and go then you might as well not even go into Sam's same at the pump. Haven't had a membership card in years.
Any idea - if i purchased tires from sam's club and that membership is expired and buy new membership with different email/address, can i still go and have my car tires rotated free?

The free balance and rotation is for the life of the tires. So you don't need an active membership for that.

I'm thinking of joining Sam's Club. I'm kind of getting sick of finding parking space and getting in a long line for Costco. Does anyone know if I should join as a regular or plus member? Is it worth paying a little more for the Plus membership?

I always check prices at Walmart for tires and Sam's always beat then. Plus Walmart doesn't include free road hazard and roadside assistance.

Plus gives you 2% cash back on most items. Can add up quickly if you shop there a lot and/or buy high ticket items like tires. Also can get into stores at 8am, 2 hours before regular members. I like that I can stop in before work. And free shop on $50+ online. Like others have said, use the scan and go app, regardless of which plan you get.

Sounds like you're in a hurry.
deflection, snarkiness, go back to reddit. There's zero excuse to not have order pickup in 2024
Quote from TeyemB :
Don't have to worry about that at Sam's because there aren't any
yeah I don't eat goyslop. I bet you're happy to eat the continental breakfast at a hotel, enjoy your moist lobby waffle. That's some 430 credit score behavior

And no long cashier lines at Sam's either because there will only be one or maybe two people to check you out. You are encouraged and expected to do that work yourself (Walmart is that way now too). But we much prefer Costco.
wrong yet again, scan and go is great
Quote from TeyemB :
Costco has high quality and hard to find things
no it doesn't, anecdotal
Quote from TeyemB :
Sam's has a lot of junk food like chips and such.
implying costco doesn't?

Not worth it anymore. It used to be great before they added a minimum for shipping on the premium paid membership .They even charge to pick up.

I don't know why I keep buying this Sam's membership because I don't even like going to Sam's club and Walmart.

It is for the life of the tires but you still need to be an active member.

From the Tire Installation Package page on the web site: "The Sam's Club Tire Installation Package provides purchasing members with the following benefits and services for as long as they remain an active member of Sam's Club...Lifetime Tire Balance...Lifetime Tire Rotation."

It is elsewhere on the web site, on the back of your service agreement, and it's common freaking knowledge if you do even a little bit of research.

Sam's won't even honor a car battery warranty if you're no longer a member. Sam's used to have significantly better car battery prices than Walmart, which arguably made putting up with the additional warranty restriction worthwhile. Nowadays, there's little price difference, so I'm not sure why anyone would buy a car battery from Sam's instead of Walmart.

Now I'm gonna be basically forced to get a plus membership. Their members mark jasmine rice for some reason hasn't been in stock in any store in the vicinity for weeks….yet it's in stock for shipping and (shocker!) you can only get it shipped if you're a plus member. We can be very particular about our rice in our culture, and Amazon sells the same brand for over 2x the price. Next best brand costs 3x the price.

You totally sound like a bot. But I will agree that it's not as busy as Costco. Sams is a ghost town compared to Costco. I can walk into Sams, grab 10 items, pay and get back to my car in the time it takes me to just find a parking spot and get into Costco (and they are 1/4 mile from each other). And yes, they have better selection than Costco, especially junk food/snacks. Want all 10 flavors of Doritos? Sams has it!
Sam's definitely wins on the Junk Food front. And Scan&Go is amazing for getting in and out quickly.

Biggest complaint about the local Sam's is I have about a 40% success rate of getting rotisserie chicken. Where Costco it's closer to 99%.
