Picked up one at either Lowes or Home Depot for about the same price in store. Used it the other day to measure an opening for a barn door, and damn, this thing is accurate. I checked it twice, right down to 5ft 9 11/16".

How is the readability of the screen? The previous design was horrible - the fractions were a 10 point font. Impossible to read for a 50 year old and difficult to read for even young bucks if you are holding it at an angle and arm's length.

I gifted mine. It kept freezing every now and then. I had to press every and hold power button to turn it off and on again. I was so frustrated and moved back to measure tape. I am curious to try it again, but afraid it has same software

Got one to replace my BOSCH GLM165 that I left a battery in it that leaked and ruined it. learnt my lesson to keep my batteries out until I need to use it.

Only use lithium batteries, they will never leak, well worth the extra money for them

Use lithium or Energizer Max. Duracells and Kirkland batteries from Costco will leak.

I bought one a few months back when it was $39. This is one of those things where unless you work in construction or have constant DIY projects around the house, you probably will rarely use.... however, when you do use it, even if it's like 2 or 3 times a year, it's totally worth it. I use it the most to measure the height of our growing kids. =D

Just remember if you use it outdoors and it's sunny, it will not measure very far at all.
