This looks like a pretty good deal for a monitor primarily used for content consumption and slower paced single player games. It's certainly the cheapest I've seen a 144hz+ mini-led monitor that gets bright enough for proper hdr, though there are obviously major caveats that lead to it being so cheap.

The most glaring issue with this monitor is the poor response times and black smearing. This is unfortunately a well known trade-off of using a va panel, but it's still disappointing that cooler master hasn't managed to achieve results anywhere near competitive with ips, unlike samsung. The fact that even the manufacturer lists the gtg (grey to grey) response times as 4ms should make it abundantly clear that in spite of it's decent refresh rate this monitor is not designed with competitive gaming in mind. If you play competitive multiplayer games, this monitor is definitely sub-optimal. Viewing angles are also mediocre, though not awful, as expected of a va panel. Interestingly, this monitor is only listed as having freesync, rather than freesync premium or premium pro. That means it isn't officially certified to support additional freesync features such as lfc (low framerate compensation) and vrr (variable refresh rate aka. freesync/g-sync) for hdr. According to monitors unboxed adaptive sync can be used together with hdr on this monitor. This monitor doesn't have an hdmi 2.1 port, so it's limited to only 144hz over hdmi and you can only use vrr over displayport.

Color gamut coverage is good overall, the official specs are DCI-P3 95% (CIE 1976), Adobe 93.5%, sRGB 99%. This monitor is functionally 10bit (8bit+frc). Color accuracy is somewhat mediocre by default, so if you plan to use it for content creation you'll definitely want to calibrate it. With a high native contrast ratio due to the va panel, and high brightness due to mini led local dimming (576 zone, so decent but expect a fair amount of blooming), this monitor should have the necessary hardware for good hdr performance. However, at least on early firmware revisions, the hdr tuning is utterly abysmal. It's theoretically possible that cooler master might have at some point decided to improve firmware, but I wouldn't count on hdr performance being good. The latest firmware (version 1.05) was released on January 29th 2024. Instructions for updating firmware can be found in the manual, both the manual and firmware update files can be found by scrolling down to the bottom of this page: https://www.coolermaster.com/en-g...=tech_spec

I've seen higher than usual reports of quality control and firmware issues with this monitor, and reviews are definitely mixed. The stand appears to be decent, capable of tilting, swiveling, pivoting, and height adjustment. It's also 100x100mm vesa mount compatible. Overall, the hardware is excellent for the price, but the software and quality control are definitely suspect. If the poor response times and black smearing intrinsic to va panels aren't a dealbreaker for you, it might be worth giving a try.
it's 1000 nits becauses its mini led, not because it has a VA Panel

Wonder how this compares with the Dell G2725D at $150? Toms Hardware seems to like it [tomshardware.com].

While their returns aren't as simple as Amazon's, they are offering free returns through 1/31/25.

imo it's a very different monitor. one is more gaming, and this is more for content creation, etc,
They both are called "gaming monitors" so I'd say it's an apt comparison.

Same panel as the Innocn 27" M2V?

Specs look very familiar and similar to that monitor. This is a lot cheaper, though
