Just to offer a different experience - I've used about 20 of these for 3+ years, a couple of them even outdoors, and have not had a single failure.
They are Wi-Fi, so sometimes they can have slowness, but they've all continued to function without any trouble.

Just a heads up that a pack of 4 for the same model (EP10) are also going for $18.99 on Amazon. That's $4.75/unit vs. $5.50/unit for the 2-pack.

No, it is just the plug.

While this is a good deal for these, and I want to love the, after owning 10+ of them (and many other Kasa products) there are just too many issues that TP-Link has not addressed. These plugs have bricked themselves (4/10 of the units I've owned) and Kasa basically says "tough luck" when they can't resolve it. All the other issues I've had with disconnection, mesh router connectivity issues, what happens after a power outage, etc. just start to add up.

Granted, other brands have similar issues, but I've had much better luck with the HBN Smart products (but they are probably stealing my data).

Buyer beware, there's a decent chance these plugs will stop working for you, nearly 50% of the time, in about one year. Good luck.
We have a lot of these, 20+, all over our house, and during the past six years in which we installed various TP-Link smart plugs, precisely one unit has failed,
after about three years' use. Maybe it's pure luck, but in our setting, these TP-Link plugs have been very reliable.

Thanks for letting me know. I have a feeling it has something to do with mesh routers (although, I'm also using tp-link products there too). Possibly power surges. It's been too many to call it a fluke.

These stopped being supported by smart things if that matters to you

Edit: may be incorrect - could be linked via Partner Devices. Pending tests.

I think these only work on 2.4ghz so make sure you are broadcasting it over WiFi.

They are on their own 2.4 network.

If you are wondering about the power surge, you may want to look into the ting electrical monitor. Sometimes the insurance company for your home policy gives you one for free. This plug-in device monitors your home's power lines for voltage fluctuations real-time.
