I wish there was a quality 3/8" ratchet tool set with just the metric and skip the SAE sockets at around a $30 price point with hard case, I would bite for sure.

Completely agree. I logged in to type pretty much the same thing. There's no real need to have both in a little kit like this, as the sizes are close enough to interchangable.
$40 for socket cuz the ratchet is crappy. Dont believe me, hold the deep socket while ratcheting really fast it locks up. Ive tried them in store and craftsman ratchet doesn't do this so it gota be the kobalt ratchet.
