It is interesting that Xfinity offers $30 tax included from their NOW prepaid service, which doesn't have data usage limits.

I see $35 + 1 free line in nor cal east bay, not quite as good, but still good.
personally though i think the sweeter deals are on the higher speeds
for $20 more a month you get 500mbps + 1 same free unlimited line + free wifi hardware + $100 amazon gift card (so if you were going to rent their equipment this is probably a better deal anyway)
for $30 more a month you get 1000mbps + 1 same free unlimited line + free wifi hardware + $200 amazon gift card
or another $10 aka $75 a month you can go from 1 gig to 2 gig. No way i'm not reaching their data cap with 2gig internet in the house, so it's damn good thing this also includes "unlimited data".
I personally think the 1 gig deal is the sweet spot, but for the price of a foot long sammich from subway i get another 1 gig and I don't have to sweat their stupid data cap? not sure I can pass that up.

Anyway here's the math as I see it for my current situation, obviously to each their own.
I'm already paying around $100 a month for my wireless plan for 3 people
Switch to the 500mbps plan add 3 unlimited lines and I'm saving a little $.
Go 1 gig and I'm prob going up another $10 a month
2 gig and I'm likely going up another $20 a month.
Toss in some new phones - $600ish trade ins, + $500 gift card per line to do the switch-a-roo over to them?

Not sure this is a deal I can pass up. Glad I didn't jump on the black friday 300+1 line deal... but now I need to figure out what phones to trade in and who wants what... that's probably going to be the hardest part.

I see $35/mo if I check the box that says "Show plans with term contracts & price guarantee savings". With that box unchecked it goes to $30 but the contract period is now 1 year instead of 2.
Also, the "free" phone line is also proving to be worthless. We have 2 lines in our family with T-Mobile and if we port one of them to Xfinity that only saves us $15 from the T-Mobile bill but we also lose free access to Netflix and high speed tethering. The phone plan at Xfinity only includes tethering at 3G speeds, so by the time all the ad graphics load (before you see what you're actually after) you'll have no hair left. This plan might be good for individuals, but the "free" phone aspect is something I'd leave on the table if I was to take the offer. Comcast marketing know all about painting lipstick on pigs. Every year I can find internet only for $30, but what just kills me is all the hassle of renewing the deal as I bounce between providers and evaluate their deals. If they just made a fixed $30/year internet fee I'd be a lifer.

Is there anyway for a current residential customer to get this deal?

become someone else. aka switch between husband/wife/boyfriend/girlfriend/3rd cousin that lives in hawaii/wtf ever.
sometimes, very, very rarely, you can call customer service, say you want to quit them and they will offer you something better than what you have now, but usually it's not nearly as good as the deals they offer a "new" customer.

In my area I can get over double my download speed for half the price from my local cable company , but it comes with an ever shrinking data limit. I Used to have the local cable company's internet , I dropped them one year after they introduced a data limit out of principal. I called them to cancel and complain about the data limit they doubled my speed and my data limit to keep me on for next year. The next year I dropped it anyway for 1/4 the speed for slightly more expensive internet but there is no data limit. I just got an ad yesterday from that company and the data limit is smaller than it's ever been. I believe they're trying to boil the frog on this.As the games get bigger, their limit gets smaller. Someday you're going to buy a game and when you install it you're going to have to pay the cable company money to install it. If me and my wife both wanted to play DCS world, sure it's free, but at 500 GB per computer it would have blown out the one terabyte data limit just by installing it twice. That being said if you use steam with someone else in the house don't forget you can turn on the ability to download the game from a computer in that house saving your internet data limits. Just hope you don't want two large games that month or want to watch streaming service.

If that speed works for you, i see no reason to 2nd guess yourself. I'm just looking at my current situation and trying to decide if the extra perks and increased speed are worth the $. I'm sure 300mb is easily enough for 1 person or even a full family of moderate users, but if you have a husband/wife/gf/whatever that has a TV streaming youtube, while they're on a video call with a friend and on a laptop scrolling cat videos AND you have a kid or 2 playing online games, etc. etc... all while you're trying to work from home, that spells disaster.

When the contract ends they will raise your price without telling you. You call back and have to haggle with them to secure any other promotion.

I did that for a decade and kept Internet for $50 a year. Also increasing my speed every year until I got to gigabyte.

Last year they raised it $10. This year another $20. A 60 percent increase in two years.

The only way they would lower it is if I signed up for mobile too. This is their new strategy. No more single service discounts. Bundle you, then raise prices on everything.

fark you Comcast, I'm never going back.

I got gigabit WOW! For $15 less and for $5 a month I pay for them to never raise my price. This is what we've come to. Having to pay to keep the same price.

But not having to deal with haggling every year just to keep the same service is worth $60 a year for me, especially when. The service is $240 a year less to begin with.

Did I say fark Comcast? Stay away.

What is the upload speed? I like to stream video games and upload to YouTube and the typical 10mbps isn't fast enough.

Edit: looks to be around 23mbps upload. Not horrible but not great either.
