Steam refurbs are actual refurbished, meaning they are fully restored to the point of looking undistinguishable from brand new. They have an in depth restoration process, unlike other vendors or retailers who sell all returns as refurbished regardless of condition.

You don't really have to "hack" it to play roms. It's just like a computer, just install whatever emulators and games you want on it. There's a program called emudeck that installs all the emulators and helps you set it all up.

Man this is a good deal. I am getting my oled switch modded and total out of pocket for the switch + mod chip will be around $350. Deck would play more games!

I would love to get this but I have a huge library of games on epic vs my steam account. Is installing windows and playing games on epic easy on these? Will it perform as well as native steam OS?

Great device but the hardware is getting pretty long in the tooth. Rumors are the next Steam deck may come out in 2025 or early 2026. These are unfounded but I am in no hurry and willing to wait for the tech to get a bit better for something a little more powerful and hopefully lightweight

You can install epic games no problem through the heroic launcher. No need to install windows. The only thing that won't work is most games with anti cheat, games like Fortnite and Destiny 2 and the such. You can always dual boot windows though to be able to play those.

Thank you. I won't care much about those because I most likely will be using it when traveling so looking for single player games.
I googled it and I can play offline steam games (if the developer allows) and same for Epic. Sh*t I might get one now!
