Just my 2 cents. I have both G8 and G9, been loving both. They are powerful polishers. You can't go wrong with GG's life-time warranty. But I think their pads are overpriced. There are many alternatives within the same price range. I mainly use Lake Country pads and Buff and Shine uro-fiber pads. If you really want to pair their polishers with their pads, don't buy the pads from GG. Get them from Autogeek. Autogeek runs a sale very often with freebies.

I am the OP of another thread about Chemical Guys polishers from Walmart. I got an TORQ22D and TORQ15DA for myself. The prices are unbeatable! Buy with a credit card that offers extended warranty. These are longer throw polishers (15mm & 21mm). If you are a beginner, go for G8 and G9 with shorter throws (8mm & 9mm). With them it will take a longer time to see a desired result but also more forgiving for beginners.

Great price. I have both of these. Good machine for the money and a lifetime warranty. My G9 stopped working on a couple years ago and Griots sent me a new one the next day. No proof of purchase or anything.

Beginner here. Thinking about getting the G9 and G8 mini. The G9 rpm is 2000-6400 rpm. Should I get something for lower rpm (use on not so great paint)?

I use their compounds and lake country foam pads and microfiber for cutting.

Why low rpm? You want to invest in a powerful polisher! Adjust your polishing skills, not the polisher's rpm. DA polishers are very forgiving. Just do not stay on the same spot for a long time.

Thanks! Just what I need to hear. So confused with the chemical guys offerings. What should I get from griots in this order like extra pads, etc or should I just get stuff as needed from different brands/sources?

I picked up those 2 and the TORQR too. The price dropped another $10 each. R$79, 15DA $69, 22D $79. I like the (idea of) G8 versatility for narrow/tight spots like the pillars.

I'll keep an eye on autogeek for accessories/supplies.

GG lifetime warranty can't be beat based on comment above.

Guess I'm learning paint correction and detailing!

Welcome to the car detailing world! One last advice to you. Make sure you know what you are doing with a rotary polisher (TORQR) since it rotates to one direction and does not oscillate like DA polishers. That being said, it cuts fast, really fast! In general, rotary polisher is not for beginners.

Already have the FLEX-PXE80 but wanted another 2" BP corded option. Snagged the G8 for grins. I like toys.

That's wild. I had the opposite experience. I had a different polisher stop working after about 2.5 years. I had proof of purchase. They told me mine wasn't made anymore and I'd have to pay an upgrade fee. (BTW, that's not how lifetime warranties work unless the policies explicity says that, which it does not). I asked what the fee would be, and they couldn't even tell me. Could only say at least $60 but they couldn't say for sure until I mailed it back in.

Never again. Done with griots forever
I literally detailed my boat twice and a car once before it broke. Not paying 60% of the replacement cost for a warranty claim on an item with an unlimited warranty. Their products are junk and so is their customer service.

I chose 3M trizact discs / foam many years ago, but I do mostly chassis (electronics) finishing and lost-cause headlights.
I do hear the modern clear-coats are super tough, so maybe not overkill to use for serious rework projects (like my 2nd-gen, less-and-less-blue, CR-V).

The G9 is great for a beginner. I personally own the G9 and this and it is terrific. For this price it's an excellent deal with a lifetime warranty. Check out DIY Detail gold standard polish and their pads. The DIY Detail YouTube videos will help you get up to speed confidently and demystify the process. You can do this.
