Found the guy who has never used this tablet.
Not true at all. It's getting old yes, but A13 Bionic is still plenty fast for normal tasks like web browsing and media consumption. Benchmarks even put it ahead of the current Pixel 9 Tensor G4 in single core and just barely behind it on multi core.

It's not much if any slower than the iPad 10th gen with A14 Bionic if you don't mind (or if you prefer) the older design and Lightning port.

I'd still be using mine if there wasn't that great $550 iPad Pro M2 deal from Staples a few months back.

Fire tablets on the other hand are a complete laggy mess that feel barely usable if you have any sort of flagship smartphone from the last 4-5 years.
My son has exactly this model. It's very speedy. Very capable. Web pages load immediately. He plays advanced games with no lag. We don't expect to need to upgrade for at least another 3-4 years. This is great value for the money.

This iPad is one generation before the current iPad, and with a new generation expected early next year, it will soon to be two generations old. So you're not getting the latest, but the differences are minor, a small speed bump and better FaceTime camera, so up to you to decide.

Not worth more than $50. Incredibly slow tablet, Amazon Fire tablet tier.

Terrible advice. This thing is faster than even the new fire tablets. Fires have cheap slow cpus in them always did.

This is the 9th generation right? Isn't the 10th generation only $50 more right now? Seems to be the way to go.

Hate how someone is always in the comments lying about Apple/Android products to confirm their bias. This is a fine tablet still to this date, same thing happens in the comments for M1 MacBooks. I see "anecdotes" of "unusable, not enough RAM" meanwhile my wife and I both have an M1 MacBook and they are still great. My wife does graphic design on hers with Adobe even, these are just straight up lies in the comments.

I agree, this one can die. I think this has been advertised for this price for 2 years. (sarcasm)

I'm wondering this as well. I don't use apple products myself so know next to nothing but our son really wants an iPad this year. Deciding between the 9th and 10th gen since they are going for $200 and $250 respectively. Wondering if there is really a difference between the two primarily for playing games, which is what I believe he wants it for.

I'd go 10th gen. You get an extra gig of ram and a one year newer chip. It's a lil bigger screen and you get usb c.

Personally, I figure the 10th gen is worth the extra $50 - that's a year (or two, or three) of Apple updates, plus everything is heading for USB-C (away from the Lightning port).
