I came here yesterday thinking similar, but I've known plenty of...erm...outdoorsy ladies with comparable builds and haircuts. Maybe I've spent too much time at the crags and on trail runs, I guess Smilie

Some of the newer backpacks have sort of a sternem strap type of thing that comes off of the waist belt and sort of plugs in, the male packs plug in but also can connect to the shaft, the female ones just have a double plug. I'm pretty sure that's what it's about
