it's 2024, that makes no sense for an ordinary desktop to choose the mouse, keyboard, and monitor to you. I can choose those for myself, please deduct the cost of those from my computer.

Good way to get the student discount while supporting a local chain store.

Not really, the real difference between this and that M2 is that this has double the ram (16gb).

I mean, you can do the same thing on a $70 laptop with a celeron or your television lol.

GeForce now has its own limitations, a monthly fee, input lag, queues, not all games available (only like 15% of my library when I had it) and sucks with a less than perfect internet connection. I had it to use on business trips but was largely unusable on public WiFi and hotspots. I had better luck with cross over and the porting kit but I still wouldn't recommend this to someone who wants to game yet unless you like constantly tinkering and headaches
I guess the internet is perfect where I'm at and travel to.. never had a problem. 20 a month and no wait. Has all my steam games..

assuming a 1000 gaming pc. you get 50 months of it for the same price. Meanwhile it's always up to date. I get no input lag..

Just stop, that thing had 8 GB RAM
yeah it's funny how when the old Mac mini was the current, everyone looked down on the 8gb. and now several years later, it goes to being recommended over the latest 16gb m4? Facepalm

I mean, I would take the $1000 PC any day lol.

My 4790k 1080ti from almost 8 years ago now still plays everything with at least 30 fps at 1440p

This gives a pretty good performance of what the new m4 is capable of compared to other similarly priced desktop systems. It's one of the most impressive computers I've seen considering its size and form factor. True 256gb is kinda lame but it's got a lot of usb c expansion and it wouldn't be too hard to run an external ssd storage solution to it

I bought the deal 3 weeks back on Amazon for $550. Will Amazon price match this?

Really want to get one. Sucks that I can't run three monitors with this chip set. I have to go with the M4 Pro. Which is double the price. Any other way to get three monitors running without issues with this Mac Mini M4?
Yes, get a DisplayPort dual monitor adapter from pluggable. Available on Amazon for ~$60 at the time of this post. It lets you run dual 4K monitors off of each adapter. Want to run four 4K monitors? Get two of them. Uses the DisplayLink software, I have had zero issues with it and it also lets you use the native MacOS display sizing or choose your own custom resolutions. Good luck!

Unless someone uses apps that tax the M4 GPU, the M2 open box BestBuy $279~ is the better (cost vs performance) buy.

I bought one as my first Mac ever and I feel ashamed because I use it as an Apple TV. But to my credit, I can block ads on Brave but not with TVos apps.
Brave is the best browser

How do you manage remote for your 'Apple TV' or are you just relying on mouse/keyboard for navigation?

After OS install

How much of actual usable storage do you get with this thing?

if I had $500 to spend, I would think of upgrading. Remember the time when you bought a new computer and it came with a mouse and keyboard?
I guess those days are in the rear view mirror at this point.
Now a day phones don't come with charger… that's Apple for you!
