Honestly this is one IP that I don't mind buying multiples of. Bill Watterson gave up millions of dollars worth of merchandising because he believed in the integrity of his work. So rare in our consumerist society. This is one of the few ways to support him.

This is why I hate those pissing Calvin decals. Those must especially piss off Waterson.

I've been keeping my eye on these for a couple of months, and yes, I'd say you're correct.Frankly, the hardcover version was floating around $120-$130 for awhile and has only recently jumped to $200...I intend on grabbing the hardcover when it's back in a more reasonable price range, which I suspect will be soon.Merry Christmas!
I bought two of the hardcover versions a year apart, the same sale each year. Lowest price I see it all year. I think if you search SD you'll see it, but if not, let me know and I'll look up the dates of my purchases.

I got sets 1 & 2 for my kiddo, so she could take them wherever whenever as her own copies. She LOVES them. I was just hoping she'd like them… but soon enough she was loading these in her backpack to read at school and show her friends. Ha! After she finished her required reading achievements for the year, I let her use these for her daily reading time.

In other words, these sets were great for getting her reading material she really loved. Big Grin Passing down old comic strip love is *sigh*.
