Screen sucks but 64gb and 2tb ssd is kind crazy for this type of laptop.

Who needs a 2tb ssd and 64gb of ram paired with a AMD Ryzen 7 7730U? Isn't that more of an entry cpu or do I have that wrong?

edit: Let me reword this - from what I could tell it's a weird combination for the CPU, RAM and SSD. That's all I was saying Smilie

Yeah...definitely an odd combination with little value added.

The AMD Ryzen 7 7730U CPU in this is an older mid range CPU from the Zen 3 architecture.
https://www.notebookcheck.net/AMD...481.0.html

The AMD Radeon Graphics are AMD Radeon RX Vega 8 (Ryzen 5000)
https://www.notebookcheck.net/AMD...150.0.html

The screen is base level with 1080p, 250 nits and 45% NTSC color. The single USB-C port is 5GB/s.

Both are about 3 years old now and will probably not be ideal for Video Editing (EDIT May be adequate for video editing with an external monitor), AI workloads or LLMs which are the use cases I can think of for a laptop with 64GB DDR4 Ram and 2TB SSD.
Definitely not suitable as a gaming laptop with older integrated graphics.

If you have a use case for a mid range CPU without NPU (AI Chip) and 64GB or RAM with minimal graphics workload then this is a good deal on such a machine. Just be aware that this CPU will show its age with newer software that uses AI acceleration.

The listing title on Amazon is HP Newest 255 G10 15.6" FHD Business Laptop lol, this laptop hasn't been newest in a long time.

You indeed have it wrong. Storage and memory needs are independent of the CPU. Of course, applications that require a lot of memory and storage also TEND to need a beefy CPU but it is certainly not the rule. It's not an entry-level chip, either. That belongs to the 7330U. Then comes midmarket with the 7530U. 7730U is actually the high end for this line. The U suffix indicates these are designed for thin and light notebooks.

I am questioning legitamacy: Very low cost for ram and storage upgrades with no consistancy.
Also hp's website states this laptop only comes max config with 16GB ram and 1TB storage.

https://support.hp.com/au-en/docu...7748389-16

This seems like a scam by looking like on with first pic, not stating model in item name, and selling overkill amounts of ram and storage.

No notebook is IDEAL for video editing. Ideal is https://i.imgur.com/kuwO8c3.jpeg
I have an Aspire X subnotebook with a 5800U from 2021 that's within 1% of the 7730U on passmark. I was on the road once and had to edit about 1TB of video unexpectedly. It ran Resolve just fine and I completed my edits. Sure, it sucked on a small screen but that's beside the point. The point is too many folks on here who don't really know what they're talking about decide to post anyway and it results in potential buyers being misled.

I've seen a lot of these types of listings with various RAM and SSD configurations. I'm suspecting the seller is upgrading these units to meet configs outside of the base and resealing them. If anyone bought maybe they can verify.

Ironically, you should fact-check yourself before posting.
The Ryzen 7 7730U is not the high-end model for thin and light notebooks. In reality, it is just a rebranded Ryzen 7 5825U (5th Gen Ryzen).
Source: https://videocardz.com/newz/amd-r...o-passmark
The high-end model for the 7th Gen Ryzen mobile lineup is actually the Ryzen 7 7840U, while the midrange model is the Ryzen 7 7735U (essentially a rebadged Ryzen 7 6800U).
I know this whole naming scheme from AMD is very confusing and a little scammy tbh, but you really should verify your facts before responding to someone with such vitriol.

Considering the 7730U is Cezanne, is it even worth it after you subtract the RAM/storage?

https://slickdeals.net/newsearch.php?src=SearchBarV2&searcharea=deals&searchin=first&q=7730U

The specific Cezanne refresh chip is going in the ballpark of $400-450 with less storage/RAM, and you could upgrade those (where possible) and still might end up under $650.

Actually, sir (assuming), it is YOU who is way out of line here. Forget the CPU for a minute here; this product is clearly hampered by a less-than-mediocre screen, integrated graphics only (not even a discrete Radeon GPU ffs) , plastic build quality, lack of RGB and lack of WiFi 7. While it dares justify its over $600 price with the excuse of having a huge and pointless amount of RAM and Storage, this "HP 255 G10" is CLEARLY an overstocked model likely equipped with shady (read: Chinese) RAM and SSDs. It is therefore NOT a high end or even a midrange product, and you should therefore feel ashamed of yourself for even posting in this thread. Next time verify your own sobriety before responding to someone with such conviction. Merry friggin Christmas.

I don't understand where you're coming from....
I never once said that this laptop is a high-end model. The purpose of my response was to point out that the Ryzen 7 7730U (the CPU in this laptop) is not a high-end model, as the comment I responded to insinuated.
