Plus the Mate doesn't have replaceable batteries, so these are essentially plastic and heavy metal landfill. I have no respect for that BS.

If you're in Android there are a bunch of good trackers out there with replaceable batteries. The Galaxy SmartTag2 is excellent for Samsung users, and if you're on a Galaxy Plus or Ultra device it has ultra-wide band. They're $19 each right now or $60 for 4.

If you're on iOS, obviously the Airtag is número uno.

90% of the features are completely free and the most important one...that whole finding lost item thingy. LOL.

But yes, if you expect Tile to pay for your lost item as a form of insurance....you might have to pay for that insurance. Crazy, right?

Personally I think Tile and Airtag are probably the best for the largest networks therefore the greatest chance of getting found, the entire point of the product. A cheaper / off brand tracker might seem better on the front end but doesn't really matter if there isn't the user base of active users out there to find the darn thing if you need it....which is the entire point of the product. Now I do think many of these networks communicate with each other but I have never seen a good comparison of what overlap their might be between tracker Ecosystems.

P.S. Many Tiles have replaceable batteries so might be worth the extra money. For example I just replaced a battery in my Tile Pro but need to replace an entire Tile Mate. I wish I bought multiple Pro's as opposed to cheaping out on a couple (buying Mates).

*Now I have plenty of CR2032 batteries and I am decent with a soldering iron so I might just try to replace the battery in my Tile Mate just for fun.

I can't believe Tile would have a bigger network than Samsung, --their "find my device" feature is opt-out as I understand it-- and Google is building their own network into Android for devices like this.

I do think Samsung has a large network (however only their most recent phones support the feature) but not as large as Apple or Tile (which is now part of Life 360 too). Like I alluded to before, there is some overlap (to my understanding) with some networks talking to each other's devices however there should be more. Seems like it would benefit every company, and the consumer, to have the largest ad hoc network possible.

*According to Google AI...which can be VERY wrong at times....Apple's network is the largest and Tile is second. Doesn't list beyond that though. The Apple # seems a little suspect with the "1.36 billion worldwide users." That's probably registered Apple accounts, not active users with supported devices. Hard to believe 20% of humans (of course counting the elderly, babies, and impoverished) are running around with new-ish supported Apple phones and "Find My network" turned on.

I'm not seeing how on Earth Tile could possibly have more users than Samsung, when Tile requires you to buy a tag and install an app for the network to work. Samsung, like Apple, has started just opting phones into the network. Samsung has over half the

These don't require special hardware or anything, so supported devices are basically any phone with Bluetooth. Google also just started a competing network, which Tile won't be on.

Not all Samsung device support the feature...simple. You can't retroactively add (some) functionality to a device AFTER it is manufactured. And yes, you do need "special" hardware to implement new Bluetooth and WIFI protocols. Firmware and updates can only do so much.

Not to mention Tile / Life 360's entire business model is tracking people and things, only a tiny part of Samsung is devoted to that market segment.

But buy whatever device you want....not sure why you need me to agree with your purchases Wink
