In general, a light color alarm clock is amazing.

Since about 12mo we used red and green (with a gen 1 rest) for sleeping and awake. Turn the light red when putting our son to bed, and then turn it green before coming in to get him out of bed in the morning. Long before I would have thought possible, he was understanding the colors and it helped both bedtime routines and wake up.

He's now a bit over 2 and we have added 30 min of blue that comes on before the green. If he wakes up early and the light is blue, he can get up and play with toys and books until it turns green and he can come out of his room.

Honestly the clock is a little bit annoying because it's super bright. I've been meaning to dig into the settings to see if I could turn the brightness down or maybe just turn it off!

Parents: is this worth it? I have a 1 year old and right now our night light is a hue bulb tied to a motion sensor under her crib so when we walk in it triggers a very light red glow. We probably need more of a real night light soon.

I think its great because you can change the colors and the sounds by using the app on your phone. Not just for babies.. my older kids like them too.

Do you have the subscription thing? Does it matter?

I don't have that but I have the original Hatch so didn't even know about the subscription until looking at this new one today.

Lol curious what your research yields! These subscription based kids stuff sucks. We have the snoo and it's insulting they tack subscription on top of a $1000+ bassinet

The subscription is good for kids but really quite expensive. We still pay it because the stories are relaxing and put the kids to sleep. Do the trial and see if you want to continue. I am not sure this device is worth the cost without the subscription, that depends.

We have a gen 1 in our new baby's room and upgraded to a gen 2 for our toddler. I didn't realize there was a subscription option and don't think I care to have it.

The gen 2 is more stable with WiFi control instead of Bluetooth. I also have it tied into home assistant and it has become a nice trigger for routines related to his room.
