Oh and p.s. I found the quality on this specific model has decreased since the company switched owners.

When you have this and the Patagonia nano air in hand, the Patagonia was noticeably better quality.

What year did the owner switch? I remember when Arc'teryx jackets were made in Canada, and they switched to China. I claimed warranty on two jackets because a panel delaminated. They issued me gift cards to buy newer models.

Thanks for sharing this. There's a lack of Arc'Teryx deals on Slickdeals, so this is great to see

China or not, I haven't had problems with the quality of Arc'Teryx stuff to date. Additionally, the customer service and how much they stand behind their product is enough for me to pay the premium...currently.

I have a hoody (Dark Magic) and jacket (Black). People should definitely know these have air permeable side panels and are meant to be an active midlayer. For a more wind resistant jacket look at the Proton. That said it's a great jacket with a fitted cut that I always get remarks on. Also be advised as with any synthetic insulation that pressure/crushing like balling up or wearing seated will break down the insulation over time and reduce the efficacy.

Thanks, I have been wanting one but the price tag, so any discount makes this make me feel better that I'm buying one!

Did Arcteryx stop making jackets without hood ? Proton doesn't seem to have no hood option and looks like Atom is going the same path

Happy to help! Another useful thing to know about Arc sizing is that it's also based on the layer. If you buy a Large shell (like a Beta), it's cut slightly more generously so that it'll fit over a midlayer (like this) comfortably. You don't have to step up sizing or guess when layering.

Thanks! I assume final sale means no exchanges right...

Gotta have that hood to splash a 2nd or 3rd bit of branding on! I've noticed that too, other than the new Allium, hoodless versions seem to be on their way out -- even on the base layers.

Right. I've bought several bits from the Outlet that were Final Sale and they were all new/perfect. It's just, as you said, knowing you're getting the right size.

What have you noticed? Mine is ~3 years old and I want to assume I have a good one.

PFAS included
At least they note it on the specs "May release plastic microfibres into the environment when washing"

In 2001 and 2005 according to Wikipedia.

I guess everybody is talking about pre 2001 or 2005 clothing.

These are my favorite mid layers and I've bought multiple. I also have a smattering of competitive offerings. What I really like about these are the fit, it is a nice slim fit without being overly technical/athletic. It just ends up being way more versatile daily wear compared to my nanoair etc.

I disagree with the previous commenter about the decrease in quality. I have the same model (Atom LT) from before and after acquisition. The quality has been about identical, but the price has gone up a good bit even when on sale.

Would I buy another one? At this price - yes, but only if I liked the color. At full price, absolutely not.
Maybe it's more of a quality control (of workmanship) issue vs a material quality. You got a well made one, and they didn't.
