Oh and p.s. I found the quality on this specific model has decreased since the company switched owners.

When you have this and the Patagonia nano air in hand, the Patagonia was noticeably better quality.

What year did the owner switch? I remember when Arc'teryx jackets were made in Canada, and they switched to China. I claimed warranty on two jackets because a panel delaminated. They issued me gift cards to buy newer models.

Thanks for sharing this. There's a lack of Arc'Teryx deals on Slickdeals, so this is great to see

China or not, I haven't had problems with the quality of Arc'Teryx stuff to date. Additionally, the customer service and how much they stand behind their product is enough for me to pay the premium...currently.

any good alternative jackets to Atom with similar fit, material and good breathability?
patagonia nano air. but I found atom lt to be more breathable at places that matters(armpit) and the fit is superior. there's a reason atom lt is such a stable throughout the years. it's just the best product in competition.

Arcteryx quality is not what it used to be. Ever since they went corporate this stuff is cheap trash with a crazy price tag. It's on par with North Face now

Then you haven't tried the nano-air "light"

it is even more breathable than the atom lt.

Give it a go 😉

Disagree. The quality is still quite good and unlike Northface they'll actually honor the warranty for delamination. Biggest issue is the prices went way up and there aren't many places to find discounted (new) Arcteryx gear any longer.

I'd go Patagonia but much prefer Arc'teryx fit. Patagonia is boxy, Arc'teryx tends to be much more athletic fitting and look flattering. Dead bird has me by the balls unfortunately.
I've owned an Atom LT for half a decade and while it's showing its age, it's a phenomenal jacket for milder climates (west coast US) and warmer season athletic endeavors like backpacking. Strongly consider getting a replacement since I've also gained some weight and medium fits a bit like sausage casing

Hate to break it to you, but Arcteryx refused to honor the warranty on my Alpha SV (their most expensive jacket) for delam. They told me that it was probably because I didn't wash my jacket enough (newsflash: I wash it all the time with their goretex wash) and that I would have to find some seam tape and repair it myself. The delam wasn't even that bad and yet they left me hanging. Pretty disappointing for a $900 jacket.

They did honor the warranty on my Atom LT (one of the zipper teeth broke off and was making it hard to zip the jacket up). They replaced it with a different color zipper since they didn't have the same color as my jacket anymore.

China is very specialized for this kind of outwear manufacturing. Their labor costs are not what they used to be. Laser cutting and tap seaming is their specialty and should not be looked as "cheap" just because it's China. You pay these prices because these companies don't do the volume Columbia or whatever Costco does and typically have higher quality demands from the oems. That being said this particular jacket is made in Bangladesh, not China and likely costs them about $28-32 to produce.

Yesterday I bought a Men's large in Black Sapphire at REI Co-Op for $253 and some change + tax. The inside liner print says it's made in Bangladesh, India.

Yeah Patagonia is extremely boxy. It's like s big fat square shape. I've tried Arc'teryx. It's okay but I think the best is Mammut!
