Before anyone has a chance to bash the 8GB ram, I have a setup similar to this but the 2-n-1 variant, Acer Aspire Spin 3 with 1920*1200.

I could do web browsing with half a dozen tabs while editing a couple of MS Word documents and reading a few PDF files.
I also use VSCode to program in Python, which doesn't require compilation. Compiling C/C++ code is slow but considering 8 cores/8 threads at 3.xGHz it beats earlier i7 6Gen laptop processors with only up to 4 threads.
I was able to play Minecraft with 26 chunks default and it was good. Only occasionally I feel a stutter.
I could play Guacamelee 2, which is a side scroller beat-m-up metrovania game that I couldn't play with earlier generation integrated videos, on battery. Very slight lag with full screen high setting.
I've also played earlier strategy games with no problem.

This is some seriously ignorant advice. If you believe this you probably also buy 1Gb internet because Xfinity told you that 500Mbps is only good enough for 2 users doing email.

Not really. It should be like 8c/8t low-power Skylake, i.e. more than enough performance for most of what people do.

I think onboard memory means soldered RAM.

I have a 3200u ryzen laptop with only 4gb ram and 1080p fhd and frankly it is perfectly usable for everyday tasks, and can even stream 4k off youtube smoothly if that is the only task. I often have multiple 1080p youtube tabs and a dozen other tabs open and it's all perfectly fine. If it's for a casual user don't sweat it, imo.

Just saying 8gb isn't unusable, even 4gb isn't.

Not really, it's more than enough for regular tasks so plenty power for 97% of people.

Fyi, 8gb of ram is currently enough for operating updates: Windows 11 needs a Processor: 1 GHz or faster with 2 or more cores;
RAM: 4 GB;
System Firmware: UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) and Secure Boot capable;
TPM: Trusted Platform Module (TPM) version 2.0; with minimum storage space average install size is around 28 GB. As long as you have this at minimum and an external hard drive or USB for addtl software then you have a pretty good laptop for most things outside of gaming or handling a server.

If you don't want to use the laptop and let it sit doing nothing, 8gb is enough. If you want ro run a browser or word or vlc simultaneously then at least 12gb ir required. I have a windows 11 laptop hence can vouch(along with windows 10 laptop).
No, this isn't for any true computing or gaming unless you set it up as a virtual on an external. But if you need it for simple tasks or for schooling then you're good.

RAM is not upgradable, 8GB provided are soldered to the MoBo:

Would be a good budget laptop, otherwise.
