If you need a constant-on light, set up a string of LED lights under your cabinet or hardwire a standard LED under the cabinet light fixture. We have both. We tried the LED light string first as it only needed to be plugged into a standard wall socket. Unfortunately, we only had a relatively short LED string lying around and it wasn't bright enough for everyday use. So we installed a standard LED under the cabinet fixture, replacing our existing hardwired florescent light fixture. However we still leave the LED string on as it serves as a kitchen night light and we can change the intensity and color to reflect the mood of the season.
