I created this new thread of all the clearance flashlights near me after posting the Coast one. Feel free to add any I might have missed!

The people commenting that Coast is a junk flashlight probably never owned one. How can this light be junk (as if was posted) if it dies and you notify the manufacturer and they send you a replacement (no matter how old the light is) free with no questions asked? Huh?

I also had a Coast that died long after it was out of production and no longer available and when I contacted them they shipped a replacement via FedEx Ground and I had it in three days-NO QUESTIONS ASKED!

The light output for this light is comparable to a Cree or the Rayovac Steel and in this deal is cheaper if you can find it clearance price. I wouldn't pay $19.97 like is showing online for my area but I did grab two at the $7 price in store.

Thanks OP!

A perfect warranty does not make a product a perfect/good product, That's like saying free junk means is not actually junk. If you are depending on a product and it consistently fails, it's still junk. Here's an example. Your only car breaks down and you get the tools out to fix it, One of the cheap tools fails and you're stuck because it was the only one you have. At that point it doesn't matter if they will replace it for free because you're still stranded.
You obviously either didn't read my whole post or chose to just pick and choose what fit your agenda. If you noticed I said that I had a Coast light for several years and it died and when it did I contacted Coast and they sent me FREE with questions a replacement.

I don't know what you are buying but ALL products will die but few (very few) manufacturers will replace them well after the warranty period (if any). That was my point. Like I said I actually own a few Coast lights that I bought when they were slickdeals but as you will also read "in my area they weren't clearance" so I didn't buy them on line but did purchase in store for $7

In the end my post was my opinion and I am entitled to it and I usually read the entire posts of others and only respond if I can offer constructive criticism.

Is storm proof meaning water proof, or not the same?

Description says "storm proof". Specs say "waterproof". But neither really means much if they don't give the IP rating.

I can't find this model on Coast's website, but a similar "storm proof" light is rated at IP54 which means it's splash proof. https://coastportland.com/products/polysteel-400

More detail about IP ratings here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IP_code

Edit: Per ChrisM below, this is IPX8, meaning it can be submersed to a meter.

I had not. It was $15.99 when I did, so I guess the best price isn't available at my Lowe's.

Picked one up for 7 at my store. Had a ton in stock. To answer some questions. IPX8 rated per the package and actually 4 AAA batteries, to correct the 3 AAA comment above. I will say these seem to have a "try me" spot on the package and mine was basically entirely dead, and when I popped the batteries out one was just starting to seep, so I'd recommend yanking the batteries out when you get it to check. Guessing these have spent some shelf time.

I love flashlights, but I wish the various manufacturers would separate the controls for ON/OFF from the controls for the different modes.

Had a similar one while it was good and bright I dropped it once and it now flickers or doesn't turn on. It charges but not working.
