Any thoughts on this game? Is it a good single player game?

If it's anything like Monster Hunter World you will spend 30 minutes beating the shit out of some creature, over and over and over. It was not fun. It was work.

My experience too. I bit on one of the monster hunter deals a while back and did not enjoy the game at all. Way too much work and too dull.

I probably put like 100 hours into it

It's fun with friends and hunting something down. the weapons are pretty varied and have different styles and mechanics.

I don't think I'd play another monster hunter though, I can't imagine it getting much better than this and I've had my fill of grinding for armor and weapons

It's a great solo game if you like this type of grindy, looter game (with mostly melee weapons instead of guns).
I feels quite "arcade-y" compared to even Monster Hunter World. Depending on who you are, that's a positive or a negative. At higher ranks you have to kill monsters multiple times to get the parts for an upgrade. Movement in this game compared to others in the series feels great. Even great sword mains have good mobility. Also, arcade-y doesn't mean easy. The elder dragon fights were pretty sweaty (for me).

Ugh this price is almost too good to pass up but I'm on the fence about getting the PS5 edition instead for the better graphical and performance. Hmm.
