If all you do is wear your clothes in your clean home and then wash this is ok. But any stains or smells it will not work well.
The best bang for the buck in a Top tier detergent is Costco Kirkland. It performs around the same as most Persils and premium tides.
Mid-tier look for deals on All, A&H oxi, and Purex Oxi. They work well for minor stains and everyday wear.
After that the performance drops a bit.
I'm a mechanic so I get a lot of differnat stains and have tried a lot. Most of what I see at CR's ratings holds well. Only thing I would add is save a old spray bottle and mix some premium detergent and water (50/50) and pre-treat any major stains on both sides. That plus a decent detergent works best in my experience.

I can't overstate this enough. Either a "problem" occurs during shipping and you are requested to submit for a refund or the packaging comes completely busted with liquid all over the place. How Amazon hasn't gotten this right yet is beyond me

Depends on your local Amazon. Tide liquid laundry detergent from Amazon comes nicely packaged 9 out of the 10 times I've gotten it.
Whats wrong with it? Do you have a recommendation? TIA

This has little, no?, enzymes so it does not clean well at all. Think dollar store level cleaning.

Plus the "simply" versions are just watered down. Pretty much useless.
